Neil on Woj's Pod

I enjoyed it....Woj and Neil started their careers at the same time out of New York City...they've been friends since they were just out of college. Just two friends talking hoops much like Tas Melas talking to JD Skeets....not everything is a trial by fire in journalism...I'm glad it wasn't a Skip Bayless rant for a change...it's refreshing

Who hates BRoy?
nobody hates BRoy....many didn't like the way he left after saying he had to medically retire or he wouldn't be able to walk with his kids...then he signed with the Wolves for 10 million....he turned down Paul Allen's job offer with the organization....he could've been an ambassador to Portland...he chose not to...I respect his choice but he was not the picture of loyalty in the end of his career by any stretch. Nostalgia has a shelf life

Here's a radical idea: what matters is WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE A BLAZERS PLAYER. Anything else is just bullshit. Drexler is an all-time Blazers great despite leaving and never looking back.

You’re welcome to hang onto that but judging anyone who doesn’t is bs.

You are clearly unfamiliar with fans of basically anything.
Strongly disagree. Portland fans are different. Oh you bought a house instead of renting? We love you. You came back and visited? Love. You told the press that it’s nice here? Let’s get married. Wait you don’t want to live here after you retire? I hate you burn in hell.

Going a little overboard there. There are more reasons than just not living here people don't get all mushy about Roy anymore. LMA lied to us and was a headache at times and some of us would still take him back with open arms.

Channing Frye and Martell Webster spend a lot of time here and nobody makes that big of a deal about it.

There are PLENTY of people in here who would be against LMA coming back, due to being offended by him leaving last time. Roy dominated here and played till his knees were just bone on bone pain, and went to MN for a paycheck. He doesn’t come back here. He is born and raised Seattle and loves it. If someone was born and raised Portland and played for the Mariners or Seahawks there’s a high probability they would take those millions and come back here. Portland fans take things personally and also fall in love with certain guys who show love to Portland.

Sure, there definitely are fans upset about lma. I was using it as an example. I loved when Roy played here, i don't care for him as a Blazer as much anymore and after some of the things that transpired. Would i love it if he did more with the team? Absolutely. Is it a requirement he does? Or Drexler does? Not at all. Many of us just don't get all mushy about him anymore. Personally, i get more mushy about Sheed. Or pippen. Or lma. Or even Damon who a lot of people hate.

The point is, none of this is absolute about blazer fans. We have our reasons for not having that major nostalgia for Roy anymore. Some have their reasons for hating lma. If you still have that major nostalgia for him great.

What's wrong with that?
Not “wrong”, just different than most places. I’ve lived in other cities with major sports. And I love Portland. But this place is different with players. Portland boos Ray Felton for ten years after he was here, they took it personally. You’d think he assaulted someone at half court of the Moda Center at halftime.

We really didn't like it much that Zach Randolph still lived here much though.

Well he did call everyone out and said he lived in the pearl and that he was ready to fight anytime. So there is that?
