A little late to the party on this thread, but can all but guarantee Nene is not nearly available as the beginning of this post indicates.

Contract and health concerns be damned, the Wizards are putting a premium at growing their global fanbase and will be playing a game in Brazil this year.

Not trying to end the discussion, but know for a fact that this one would be DOA - surprisingly, from their end...

I'd rather not pursue a player that considered retiring this season (due to Plantar Fasciitis). His 13 million salary into 2016 would be a killer as well.

But is that better? He is healthier.

Put it this way: I'd rather bring back Juwon or Jeffries. And if I'm that disappointed, I'll be the first calling for Olshey to be tarred and feathered...

Sounds sorta like the Warriors trading for Bogut, though Bogut's gruesome elbow injury and ankle break aren't as tough to ditch as an arthritic knee. Still kinda the same deal though. Guys going to miss a LOT of games, but if you make the playoffs and he can go then you're in solid shape.

And Nene would be pretty fuggin cheap to acquire, though cap prohibitive.

Over a decade ago Grant Hill was contemplating retirement...

Plantar fasciitis isn't usually what ends a players days. If his injuries were something like arthritic knees, then I'd be concerned.

If we are talking WAS Centers then for the cost I think I would rather have Okafor anyways. Difference however is Nene I would start. Okafor I would only start for at most 1 year before letting him be the backup.

Agreed here. Okafor's contract expires after next year, he and Nene are the same age (Nene is 2 weeks older), and Okafor has played basically the full season 5 of the past 6 years.

The one thing that caught my eye was the local perspective on Otto Porter. One which I have felt as well the few times i saw him play:

That leaves a local product, Georgetown forward Otto Porter, as the lone fit for Washington. While he is noted for his all-around play, he still is recognized as a player without an elite NBA skill.
