Man, I had NO idea Rosa Parks Way was in the NE. Totally had that pegged for the No...th side of town.

Anyway, mad a nice "drive-by" sale there yesterday. A brotha flagged me down. Him and his band of homies were slugging down some Colt 45's in the streets! as I drove by. They saw my car (see pic) and, well, you know....

Side note: Lots of cats were trekking in and out of his house. I wonder what that meant? Hmmmm..........

Rosa Parks Way is also in the north end of the city. It runs to the river through N. Portland.

HCP spotting!!

Glow in the dark car wrap. We've come a long way from this....

I grew up just off N. Portland Blvd on Curtis St.

Right by where the road ends and meets Willamette. Just by the bluff.

While I wasn't joking about being flagged down by the brutha's, the neighborhood still appeared safe....albeit, the fact that lots of cats were going in and out of the crib.

I'll be back over there on Monday to collect the cash.......and, trust me, it'll be pure, green cash. He didn't appear to be the check writing type.

I moved close to that part of town a few years ago (off of lombard close to downtown saint johns) and all I heard about was how horrible that part of town is but i haven't had any problems since i moved there.

Nah, it looked totally safe. Women with children in strollers walking by...lots of bicyclists, etc. Right off 17th & Holman between Rosa Parks and Ainsworth.

I'm a 3rd generation St. Johns boy that just happens to live in Vancouver. There's spots of St. Johns that are still dodgy but a lot of the trash moved out to SE.

I'm looking at places over on Interstate right now. They just built some sweet high rise lofts that I'm interested in.

Beautiful area. I grew up for quite a bit of time on Curtis which is about 5 or 6 blocks away. Went to Beach Elementary. Thats my neck of the woods.

I used to love running around the neighborhood when I was at UP for my short time. Rode my bike down to the Freddy's to get groceries and would be balancing two bags of ramen noodles and peanut butter on the handlebars on the ride back. Never felt too threatened.
