The New Jersey Nets are active in trade discussions according to the New York Post, yet this does not guarantee that the team will actually make a move.

"We'll be active," said GM Kiki Vandeweghe, who wouldn't specify any given area where the Nets seek an upgrade. "We'll be actively canvassing the league, calling teams. We're already doing that. You may not make a trade. In fact, the odds are probably against making a trade. But it helps you in the future because you know what teams are willing to look at."

I'd see if VC could get Camby and Gordon or Thorton from the Clippers.

VC + Boone for Camby + Gordon + Novak + Minny conditional 1st works in Trade Checker.

Clips get the star and a young, defensive minded Center to spell Kaman. NJ gets a young 2G prospect, A defensive minded vet Center who expires during the 2010 FA Fantasy Draft and the 1st round pick via Minny in the Jaric/Cassell deal (Top 10 protected this year).

I think the Nets need to hold out for more. After Carter in terms of assets, if they want to rebuild around Harris, whom do they have?

Harris
Gordon/CDR
SF Hole
Yi/Anderson
Lopez

What else do you think they can get? The going rate for a "superstar" is a young prospect, cap relief and draft picks.

KG got Al Jefferson, Gomes, Telfair, Green and picks
Ray Allen got the #5 pick and Delonte West
Pau Gasol got Marc Gasol, Crittenton, McKie and picks

Seems like Gordon + Camby + 1st is about on par, maybe ask to keep Boone and send something else. But thats about what you are going to get.

well it may be very much active... according to http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm

there is a potential Hughes(chi) for Simmons n Ager deal in the talks....

I can't say i like it initially. i am a Simmons supporter/fan, his game isn't flashy, it's strictly a finisher and very good shooter, esp from 3. he's a gr8 character guy n teammate from what i hear.

Now i know we need an upgrade, but moving him would leave us a bigger hole at the 3...imo

im for the trade...just move Cater to the 3...and in case of more injuries Hughes is someone that can run the Point.

i agree with Hughes running the point, if an injury were to occur to one of our ball handlers, but i wouldn't like moving VC to the 3. he's not a 3 anymore and is better off at the 2 imo...

I think Hughes would bring more to the table than Simmons, especially if they are looking to make a playoff run this year

Ummm... in a heartbeat.
And btw, Hughes can play the 3.

trade vince to Portland for Raef Lafrentz and Travis Outlaw

trade vince to the big easy for peja

trade vince to orlando for hedo

Good luck with that, try to get Hughes to play the 1 or the 3 and he will tell you he's not having fun, and starts jacking up long range jumper...ahem, bricks.

^ he could play the two and move Vince to the 3. didn't he play the 1 in the finals?

Yeah, he alternated with Boobie Gibson at the 1 and 2. But he made it pretty clear he wasn't pleased with having to play the 1 when asked to.

Thoughts on Ager, Swift and Swat plus draft pick for Miller?

that's actually not that bad an offer. But I can't help but think Minnesota can get better return for Miller if they package him with an expiring contract of thier own or picks, since they have a possible 4 1st Rounders and two 2nd rounders this year alone

IDK that the nets would be willing to offer more though.

that's what I was thinking. It's nothing against the Nets, but to try and make a deal good enough to "outbid" in a trade for Miller, they would have to give up too much....and unless thier pick ends up being a top 10 pick....it wouldn't be as appealing to Minnesota who has four 1st Rounders (possible) already

Well my offer was listed, dont do much more to that offer.

You're dealing with McHale here. You don't need to throw in a draft pick :P

He isn't their GM anymore.

exactly....which is why I expect them to not make what it seems like MCHale made...and that's hairtrigger deals. Impluse trades and free-agent signings...hopefully we've seen the last of the swapping drafted players on draft night (Although I'm getting kinda happy with the Love deal) .

I was worried for a while at first, but with the way Love has been a beast on the board (and the fact he seems like a player that would stay with Minnesota and not bolt after his Rookie contract) and the fact that even though Miller hasn't helped us as much we had hoped, he can still really help us in terms of trade value....I think we made out quite well.

What about

Ron Artest
Aaron Brooks
Luther Head

for

Devin Harris
Yi Jianbust
Seanbust Williams

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...5~3192~2763&teams=10~10~10~17~17~17&te=&cash=

Aaron Brooks / Keyon Dooling
Vince Carter/Luther Head / Hassell
Ron Artest/ Bobby Simmons / Jarvis Hayes
Ryan Anderson / Eduardo Najera
Brook Lopez / Boone

Edit: Switch Chuck Hayes for Luthe Head and the trade still works. Hayes is a terrific defender and rebounder. He can play backup center and PF.

Brooks / Dooling
Carter / Head / Hassell
Artest/ Simmons / Hayes
Anderson / Najera
Lopez / Hayes

Anybody hear that the Hughes deal was at best third choice and the "3" they were still continuing to work hard to acquire was still Mike Miller from T WOLVES?

I really dont see a deal the Nets can offer Minny to get Miller. Unless they are both willing to take on Brian Cardinal AND deal us one of CDR/Boone. We are NOT taking Bobby Simmons or any other contract that isnt an expiring.
