I doubt their contenders. Teams like Miami and Detroit will stop him. Their bench isn't that great, their starting lineup is not the best in the nba.Today's game was good but that doesn't mean title contenders.

We beat Miami 2 out of 3 times, we tied the season series with the Suns and Detriot. How could you not consider us a contender when we are able to beat the elite teams. Not to mention we blew out the Mavs and Suns.

no way. This is a good team, but in no way are they the best. They're the third best in the east, fourth best if Larry Hughes is healthy. There's no was they'll win a title.

Nets can't win it with the lack of depth and inside players. They only have three real big men, and one of them, Cliff Robinson is a perimeter player. Good luck against Shaq, and or the Wallaces with that in a seven game series.

The Nets aren't the best team in the league at the moment either... they are the hottest, but not the best.How can you even think they are title contenders? Because they win 9 straight, and the last two being against detroit and Phoenix? Whoop-de-damn-doo! They aren't going to beat Miami or Detroit in a 7-game series with their lack of bench, depth, and inside game. Winning one game is a lot different than winning a seven-game series.

Based on what evidence do u all disagree that the Nets can't go far? Regular season record? Last year"s playoffs? Personell (weak front court and bench)? The Nets have proven they can beat the elites in the game and the bench is now contributing. They have been the best defensive team in the league in the last two-three weeks and it is not just cause they are hotl..They have a hall-of-famer by the name of Jason Kidd who knows when to turn it up..The Heat are not as good as last year. Just check their record this season against Division leaders and elite teams. We beat them 2 out of 3 times this year and the one time they beat us was by one on a questionable call. Nenad Kristic is much more improved down low then he was last year and collin's knee is better also. Nobody plays Shaq better in the NBA then Jason Collins not even big Ben. Our bench has improved much as of late and have not peaked. Finally we match up better then anyone else in the east against the Pistons. We are 2-2 against them this year and have always plyed them tough even when they won the championship. Now i am not saying the Nets are a sure bet for the Finals but they have a legit chance. Nope. They have no dcent big men to be a contender in the League. They have guys like Carter, Jefferson and Kidd who can create a spark on offense but their interior defense is not always there. They also don't have much depth. They will be lucky to win one series IMO.

See, we get attention for shutting down the Pistons and Suns and yet it turns out to be negitivity because we consider ourselves contenders.Personally being a Nets fan, I feel we are the most hated when we try to talk about our skill because nobody respects us.

The 3rd longest winning streak in the NBA this season didn't do it. Beating the Mavericks, Pistons and Suns by a combined 54 pts didnt do it. O well..

New Jersey as a championship contender......that is a joke. Their biggest inside presence is "Nenad Kristic". Who is a <Censored> by the way. Do you honestly think that Nenad can even come close to limiting Shaq on the inside or even Zadrune for that matter. I will admit that they have a good guard set and sf but if you havent noticed, every team in the past 8 years have won championships because they have a good big guy....and im sorry Kristic isnt that good.....and hes especially not physical

As a Nets fan, no we are not the best team in the league. There are a handful of teams that are better than us that have better records and have an all-around better team. Nonetheless, I think we can compete with these teams and make a solid playoff run, but you would have to be ignorant to call them the best team in the league with the likes of Detroit and San Antonio and the things they have done this season..

The reason Billups scored 7 points was because of the defense Kidd played on him..Look at what he did to Nash the next night..Im not saying they have a great shot at the championship but Im confident that we can beat any team we match up against if we play our A-game..

I will say that the Nets can win the Championship. Kmart says in the playoffs everyone raises their intensity, well NJ is included in that. I think you will see a more intense and aggressive Jason Kidd along with Jefferson and Carter and no team will have a back court to match that. With the bigs playing better defense and the bench contributing Nets can win it all.
