Nets' deal with Blazers falls apart

Yeah Trenton Hassell signing that offer sheet pretty much killed the Kittles-Rahim trade. But there is rumors that the Nets are now trying to go after Chris Wilcox. Wilcox isnt as offensively gifted as Rahim but he is a young bigbody who likes to bang. And the Nets need somebody like that playing alongside Jason Collins. Wilcox has excellent size and probably would fit in with Kidd's up & down size.

Also another benefit to the Wilcox trade is the Nets dont have to give up Aaron Williams. I think it was going to be kind of hard to part with A-train and not get a legit center back in return because he is our most productive center. And leaving us with a Center rotation of Jason Collins & Nenad Kristic would have been kind of shakey even if we are getting Rahim at the pf spot in return.

So hopefully the Nets are working hard to bring Wilcox here, but Iam not for sure how they will make the contracts match between Kittles & Wilcox, but then again the Clippers are under the cap so maybe the contracts dont have to match.

Yeah I'm a fan of Wilcox eversince he made that nasty facial over KMart. If we're going to rebuild, might as well go young.

trade makes no sense for the clipps. why do they want to give away a budding young player like wilcox, for an aging over-paid player like KK? if the clipps just matched the Q deal, they'd be all set. but its too late for that i think anyways

where else can the nets go from here? lets say wilcox isnt a possibility...who else is out there?

this whole situation stinks! im furious with k-mart. i loved the jeff/kmart/kidd trio

Well the Clippers need a SG and they lost in the Kobe hoopla. Who else can they get aside from Kittles?

but pulling the trigger on that deal, leaves them thin up front. in the west, it just dont make sense to me, but deals that dont make sense have happend before. and again...losing a budding youg player with a huge upside and a world of athelticism, for KK, just seems like a bad move.

^ I agree, I dont really see how this would benefit the clippers other than an immediate fix for them probably losing Q. Maybe the Clippers have their sights set on somebody big time next year cant really think of who right now. But Kittles does bring alot of cap space for next off season.

Anyway as far as the Nets go Iam hearing names like Robert "Tractor" Traylor and Eddie Griffen keep coming up as the Nets power forward options keep getting smaller.

Neither one is really starter material at this time. E-Griff because I dont think Griffen is stable enuff to handle a starters role. And Traylor simply because he isnT good enuff nor in the proper shape to be a focal point of a frontline as a starter. But I guess the Nets if they had to could move Aaron Williams to the 4 as a starter and bring these type of guys in to add depth. Instead of looking for just one guy to try to fill in for Martin.

I still think the Nets should have thrown Aaron Williams and a draft pick toward Orlando to get Drew Gooden, I think they would have taken the deal. But Cleveland was smart enuff to try a similar offer, and they landed Gooden.

Kittles' contract is expired after next season. They get to clear even more money and Sterling probably is salivating at that.

I would prefer Wilcox over Rahim, however the Nets would really need to sign a shooting gaurd soon. I'd like to see either Rodney White, Wesley Person, or Darius Miles. But none of them are real realistic.

I can see why Daruis Miles is probably unrealistic. But why is Rodney White? He was actually a player the Nets were rumored to be interested in. And with the frontline Denver has now, they dont need him as a backup forward anymore. And I dont hear any other teams that are interested in him, so he should be cheap. I would like him for depth.

I have heard the Clippers are intrested in Kittles so maybe a deal will happen with him and Wilcox.

Its to bad the Nets couldnt work out anything with the Blazers Reef would have been a fine replacement for K-Mart.

Well I don't think it's realistic cause we're gonna need to use atleast half our MLE to get Rodney, and it seems like Ratner is really strong about the money holding business. It just doesn't seem like anything is going the Nets' way yet.
