<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>With the future now more significant than the present to the Heat, we'll offer in this space, depending on the matchup, an occasional "future shock" look at conference rivals.
In other words, looking ahead, does the Heat have a brighter future than its opponent? With the Nets to visit Friday, we'll start with New Jersey.
Young gun: The Heat can build behind Dwyane Wade, the Nets behind Richard Jefferson. Edge: Heat.
Old school: Shaquille O'Neal cannot easily be dealt; Jason Kidd has shown he still can captivate the market. Edge: Nets.
Contract conundrums: Vince Carter carries a deal even more overvalued than Mark Blount's. Edge: Nets (Carter still can have his moments, as well as entice in a trade).
New age: The Heat's hope rests in the youth of Dorell Wright and Daequan Cook; the Nets' future centers around Sean Williams, Josh Boone, Marcus Williams and Antoine Wright. Edge: Nets.
Cap-o-nomics: The Nets can get under the cap in the 2009 offseason. Unless the Heat can do something with O'Neal's deal, the Heat would have to wait until the 2010 offseason.
Brighter future: The Nets have more chips to put into play.</div>

Idk, I'm not sure I agree with all this. I mean, the Nets have the 4 youngins, Krstic, Jefferson, and a realistic trade chip in Kidd, but the Heat have Dwyane Wade, along with what could turn out to be the #1 pick.
