The Nuggets saved about 31 mill this way. (15,5 salary for Camby in 2 years, and 15,5 lux tax in 2 years)

I wonder if we tried KVH + Boone + Marcus... (4,3 +1,2+1,2 = 6,7, wich is enough to mach 8 mill)

That would have saved them about 26 mill too, but would have gave them some value also. we could have added some cash, to make it even closer..

but oh well. could have... would have...

Pretty lopsided for Denver. Thank God, this trade didnt push through. I mean, why would you trade two young bigs for an old guy
who has only recently played a full season. I dont understand the NBA sometimes.

I was thinking the same way. I think it would had worked out well for the Nets as it frees up spots to make other moves.

Marcus, not Sean. So 1 young big. Even though Camby is old, he is productive. We could only wish that Boone were to turn into Camby. He's pretty underrated, and very much so at 7.5M a year. Think about what the MLE is... and will buy you.

Camby's salary is about $9mm plus about $2mm in bonuses.

The deal I thought should've been done was KVH+Hassell+Boone+Marcus+TE for Camby+Atkins. (separate deal: TE=Atkins)

After buying out KVH for $500K the Nuggets would have $7.3mm on the books rather than $14.3mm (including Camby's bonus).

Saves $7mm plus they have a center in Boone, replaced Atkins with Marcus on the pg depth chart and got a decent wing defender in Hassell. They are thin upfront now and old at pg.
 
Is anyone else a little concerned with the willigness to trade Boone? He improved A LOT last year and is really someone I think we will rely on this year. I know Camby does a lot of what Boone does and more, but he's also much older. Boone has been mentioned a bunch in trade rumors and I just hope that if we do trade him, we get good value in return.

Where do you get your numbers from?

The TE is reported to be 10 mill, so the 8 million salary seems correct.
Your numbers are probably off.

If Camby would count more than 8 mill against the cap, the TE could have been bigger, since the Clippers are way more than 10 mill under the cap.

if he counted 11mill as you said, the TE could have been as high as 11mill*1,25+100k=~14mill

Boone+Marcus+KVH would have been enough to match...
but too late now

Camby's age doesn't matter. He'll still be good for the next 2 years and 2 years from now Boone probably wouldn't be on the team because of other young guys like Yi, Lopez, Swat, and Anderson developing.

Storytellers says $9mm (+ bonus). Sports Illustrated says $9mm (they've had the most accurate numbers, unfortunately they stopped updating, but his deal is so old I would think those #s are right). D'Alessandro reported about $11mm a few days ago. Rocky Mountain News reported Camby has a cap number of $10mm (not sure how potential bonuses are treated for cap).
 
Surprised the Clips didn't take a run at Josh Smith. They would've had to wait a few days to see if Atlanta matches. What is it 7 days?

1) Hoopshype numbers are garbage. As soon as you use them as a source you lose any argument

2) You don't understand how to calculate a TE. There is no 125% calculation involved. It is cap number plus $100,000 http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#69

3) Camby's contract has a base amount and bonuses. The past two seasons he hit so many of the bonuses, that his cap number has to include the bonuses. Hoopshype has never bothered updating their information (they only had base salary from when the contract was signed) to include this fact about the bonuses.

Camby's age doesn't matter. He'll still be good for the next 2 years and 2 years from now Boone probably wouldn't be on the team because of other young guys like Yi, Lopez, Swat, and Anderson developing.

Camby is playing on borrowed time. Additionally, he wouldn't have been a good fit for the Nets as he is the type that pouts when he doesn't get enough shots in a game and he pushes teammates out of the way to get rebounds.

Why do you say that? I use them all the time. Sometimes they don't have new contracts up yet, (a lot of the time that's because the details haven't been released), but I find them pretty reliable.
 
Could Kiki take another shot at Camby in 30 days?

If so, I'm sure the Clippers would at least pick up the phone.

He could do it today. As long as the Clippers aren't trading any other players with him, they can re-trade him immediately

lol, well they are my bookmarked salaries site. I like them and find they do the trick. Any of the times I've used their information it has been correct. They provided salaries pretty early on, and I had a hard time finding out the information anywhere else.

Thorn/Kiki what were you thinking? Camby isn't worth that much. I wouldn't even trade Boone for him straight up.
