Perhaps we could try and get Millsap or Jefferson. I doubt the Jazz want to retain both.

Props to NJ! This is a much bigger gain than NY got! They are now set at PG and C, the two hardest positions to fill in the NBA. They will be able to get compentent wings, all they need is another big man and that team will be looking at HCA.

This.

NJ paid less for a better player. They have to be thrilled.

What possible deal has Cho passed on that makes the Blazers a stronger franchise overall?

I gotta partially agree with MM, its very sad if the Blazers hold onto the expiring contract of Joel. I can’t say I’m surprised since we have always held onto big expiring deals, Sabas, Damon, Van Exel, Shareef, Raef. But I had hoped the team would try to add some talent this year.

Excellent point. I stand corrected. Repped.

I really do think that handcuffing them with Milsap's deal and then taking Wes precipitated the rebuilding of that franchise.

I agree. The Blazers effectively destroyed the Jazz franchise.

Does Utah have any restricted free agents this summer. :)

Maybe we can take Fesenko from them this summer . . . just to fuck with them. Got to kick the Utah dog when he is down.

But who knows what we could have got if anything? Not every trade would help us. It's easy to say we should have done this or that, but since we don't know what is being offered or what is being turned down we can't judge accurately.

I think expiring contracts are generally overrated by fans and media. Yes, once in a while a team gets something valuable for an expiring contract, but it doesn't seem very common.

As an example, the year Portland had RLEC, Cleveland had WSEC (Wally Sczerbiak's Expiring Contract) which was about the same size...plus at least as much motivation to make a deal as Portland, if not more, to get Cleveland over the hump with LeBron James. They weren't able to turn it into anything.

I'd love to see Przybilla, at minimum, turned into something. But I don't know that history supports that the expected value of expiring contracts is high. I'm certainly open to evidence to the contrary.

The Warriors are involved in this trade as well. It would have to be for either Millsap or Jefferson, wouldn't it?

I posted it in another thread this morning, but RLEC effectively destroyed the Jazz franchise when they matched the toxic offer for Millsap.

Since then, it's all been downhill for the Jazz.

I assume the Warriors got involved in taking Murphy from the Nets.

What I want to know is why they dealt him. It has to do something with what happened with Sloan while he was there. I wonder if he made a comment about leaving to an elite team and the Jazz, seeing the Carmello deal and Lebron deal, just said "fuck that" and cut a deal.

I think its funny that the Nets did this when all the hype in their area was around the Knicks and Carmello. Not anymore! They should schedule their press conference at the same time as the Knicks. :)

What are the Jazz doing? I thought that Sloan exiting was because he didn't see eye-to-eye with Williams (their Franchise Player).

The only thing that makes sense is that the Sloan thing wasn't all about DW. Otherwise, they are just plain stupid.

I disagree. Dwill is one of the top point guards in the league. He worth any rookie this year outside of maybe Griffin or Wall. If he can be had for anyone on the Nets roster, you do it right away. Williams will attract other players, Favors won't.

Utah, what happened? Such a stable franchise for so long. This is shocking. And I LOVE IT! I have NO PROBLEM keeping 'Dre. It's not like Harris would be the big piece to us winning long term. In fact, the way the NBA is headed, we'll never be able to win a championship. So really, I'm just going to enjoy the moment. The future is irrelevant for 80% of the NBA now.

Wrap your brain around this before you get too excited about the Jazz suddenly sucking for the next ten years: They just flipped Deron Williams and turned him into a former all-star point guard who is still just 27, a 3rd overall pick big man who is only 19 years old and they'll have the Nets lottery pick this year in addition to their own as well as Golden State's likely lottery pick next year in addition to their own first round pick which is also likely to be in the lottery. So they may take a step back for a year or two, but they could be absolutely loaded the season after the lockout.

If Deron stays, you are right. If not - the Nyets are screwed.

Sloan said it wasn't about DW or any player. The Jazz begged him not to quit. It's all out there for pubic consumption, yet I see posters I respect parroting this disproven falsehood.

This changes nothing....

The top 4 in the WC...Lakers, Spurs, Mavs & Thunder just solidify thier positions more...

Big whoop for POR maybe they get a 5th seed? Back end of schedule is brutal....bottom line is still a 1st round exit....

I dont see why he's unhappy. I think 95% of NBA players would much rather play for the free spending Russian dude and Jay Z in NJ/Brooklyn over Utah.

Exactly. All the people that don't want to trade Andre have a very short memory of how easily he was rendered invisible on the court in last year's playoffs by the Suns. Going into the post-season with him again as the only legit PG is a recipe for disaster.

I think you are right, but there isn't a deal now that would make sense imo. What are you seeing that I'm not?
