<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>“This trade provides us with immediate help, most notably with the acquisition of Devin Harris, who we consider one of the rising young point guards in the NBA,” said Thorn. “Harris's numbers have improved each of his four years in the league, and we feel that he has a significant upside. This trade also will give us two future first round draft picks and will give us flexibility to improve our roster.”

"Jason Kidd has been the best player to wear a Nets uniform during my current tenure with the Nets,” added Thorn. “He was the toughest competitor with the fiercest will to win and he was the main component in the most successful period in the Nets NBA history. Jason is a first ballot Hall of Famer and the man most responsible for transforming the Nets into a high quality NBA team. We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”</div>

Pretty surreal just seeing it there on the website...

im happy we got the deal done but what all the other stuff 2nd round picks and the trade exceptions i cant help but fill like he got jipped alittle but i guess plans change we took on more salary and got less......hahahaha so who got the better deal.

While I don't think Harris will be our savior, nor will anyone else from this trade, the stockpiling of young talent that's eager to play and improve are exactly what the doctor ordered.

I was sick and tired of this team mailing it in and now we have pieces that should at least go out and bust their tails for the team night in and night out. We're gonna have some growing pains and lose a good number of games but this team needed an infusion and Harris and company are exactly that.

I want to say that I appreciate the relevance Kidd brought to this team but it's hard to say I have the same feelings I did a few years ago when he basically quit on us this past year. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

From ESPN.com

"The teams originally planned to move Wright to Dallas in a separate transaction but were able to make the salary-cap math work in a single trade after the deal was reconfigured over the weekend. "

So our rotation is like this now?

Harris/DA/M.Williams
Carter/Hassel/Wright/Ager
Jefferson/Nachbar
Krstic/S.Williams/Swift
Boone/Diop/Magloire

I've been peaking in from time to time. I finally had something worth posting. I'm very excited to see the new blood on this team and hopefully watch them blossom into something respectable.

I don't see Harris starting the first couple of games. He'll be coming off the bench.

I also have a feeling Magloire won't be getting any minutes, either.
He must be having fun right now.

Well hopefully we can now trade VC for JO and get Mike Miller and we would be straight and i would be satisfied with this season even if it is a losing season. I am strong supporter that VC can not carry a team to the and through the playoffs. I haven't really been a fan of him since he came to NJ. At least he has been health since he has been her but he just chokes too much. This is the Line-Up i want to see

Harris\MWilliams
Miller\Hassell\Wright\Ager
Jefferson\Hassel\Wright\Ager
JO\SWilliams\Swift\Boone
Kristic\Diop\Boone

This is providing we trade Boki, Mags, and Armstrong

I think Wright is still in the deal, just not in a separate deal. It only says that every piece was plugged into one deal.

Well, know that you have been missed. I'm looking forward to disagreeing with you again

NewJerzeeNetz,
I see no reason to get JO, if Carter can not stay...
Your lineup has zero playmakers on it.

Well maybe Marcus Williams... but even thats an overstatement

Haha thanks L. I mean I was really depressed about the state our team was in and really didn't have anything to add that wasn;t already addressed on here. I try and look at the positives of this team while staying aware of the negative and there were few and far between where I even felt like chatting about it.

For all the good Kidd did for this squad I have no love for a guy who flaked on his team to the degree he did. I'm a Nets fan for life and i'm glad we're turning that page and can do so with some nice young talent.

I'm not gonna put any expectations on this squad. I want to just see some D and some pride as those will always be the cornerstones of what makes the Nets successful.

Didnt you just agree with him?

Do we really need play makers? They said VC was a play maker what did he do for us? Nothing. Bad shots. Scarred to drive to the rim unless he gets criticized i.e. Magic Johnson saying he can't do it anymore. At least with having JO and Kristic it gives us an inside outside big man threat. Devin harris is fast and not scared to drive it to rim. Mike Miller good outside presence and can also drive it in if he has too and RJ you are saying he is not a playmaker? RJ has the all around game and plays better with out VC. This team doesn't need playmakers they need people that are not scared to take it to the hole and get the foul and to take the shot when they have to. When that is achieved the playmakers will come.

May not be this year but it will come

I can't help it, I like this trade. We get everything you should get when trading a superstar: one young, proven starter (Harris), expiring contracts (Diop, Van Horn), youth with potential (Ager) and picks. Plus a trade exception (which I hope we'll use instead of letting it run out) and good hustle player (Hassell, though his contract sucks). Not bad at all, Kiki-Thorn.

I really hope we can get Mike Miller now, hopefully for something like Nachbar, Magloire and a pick from Dallas. Not a great chance, but if that somehow goes through we actually become a contender.

Harris/Williams/Armstrong
Carter/Miller/Ager/Hassell
Jefferson/Miller/Hassell/KVH(?)
S.Williams/Krstic/Swift/KVH(?)
Boone/Diop/Krstic

That lineup, with the right chemistry and with a healthy and determined VC, can beat any team in the East in a playoff series. Even Boston and Detroit. With Harris pressuring Rondo/Billups, Jefferson sticking to Pierce/Allen/Hamilton and some big bodies to throw at guys like KG, Dwight and 'Sheed now that Diop and Swift are here, I say we can be the dark horse in the playoffs this season. If we can convince Keith Van Horn to stay 'till the end of the season, even better. He can be our designated shooter off the bench. Imagine a lineup of Carter, Miller, Van Horn, S. Williams and Krstic. 4 great shooters+Williams, who isn't that bad himself from mid-range.

Well, I admit, that I'm a Carter fan, so maybe that's why I disagree with you on that.
I just think the current lineup (Carter+Boone) is better than your guys plugged in to thir spots (Miller+JO).
On the other side, I really like the idea of getting Mike Miller (For Magloire and KVH for example)
And I also like the idea of getting JO + someone cheap, if we can keep Carter (Mags, KVH, Krstic and Hassel + Boki or Marcus)

Now I can see why there is a disagreement there with VC. Don't get me wrong VC puts people in the seats but as of lately when i watch nets games there are people in the seats. JO and Carter would be nice. If we can get mike miller for boki and other exp contracts sure lets do it. But I just don't think we can do it with VC. But I guess we just have to trust the front office

No offense man but the numbers don't add up when you look at the roster...
Vince makes 13.5, Jermaine makes 20...we can't trade them straight up and we can't include players who have just been traded for...
assuming that Mike Miller was aquired for DA, Boki and Mags, then the only players we could throw in with Vince would be Swat, Boone, Krstic and Marcus Williams...

Actually the deal would be Vince, Nenad and either Marcus, Josh or Sean...

I'm just saying you should run numbers before you make proposals. Try realgm or the espn trade machine...
