The Bulls don't want to pay the tax

They are far from the luxury tax (at about $53mm, $14-15mm under threshold). They can sign Deng and still be under. I think it's more about future cap space.

Unless they are looking to sign both Deng and Gordon. Then KVH contract is the best thing for them.

Hey Zahkidd, welcome to S2! Feel free to send me, or any other mod, a PM if you have any questions or concerns on the site.

My first reaction to your trade proposal, is that if I had Nocioni I sure as hell would want to trade him for more than Swift and Ager. Now the Nets made a similar deal (in terms of philosophy) with the RJ trade; they got cap room and a young player. Except Yi could be a great player in this league; Ager? eh... I think you'd have to start by adding a first round draft pick.

That money is now Vince Carter's contract.

That is what was decided when RJ was moved and all subsequent moves will be made with that in mind.

That is why there is no Wally salary dump. The Nets want to win games in the interim (not the bad thing some are making it out to be) and there is no reason to make that move.

LeBron will be signed and traded. He will not take any less than the maximum amount possible.

the presence of a 30-yr old nocioni and a 32-yr old vince carter won't entice lebron to come over...the nets only chance to get lebron is to not take anymore salary beyond 2010 and get rid of vc's contract to enable them to get amare stoudemire or chris bosh to commit to play alongside the king...then retain the best pg (harris?) and center (lopez?) on the nets' roster, surround the 2 superstars with shooters and sign serviceable veteran players chasing after a ring at a steep discount (jkidd? lol...).

lebron will not choose the nets because of its competitiveness since the cavs (and a host of other teams) will always be better than the nets up to 2010...he'll only come because he'll see a PROMISING future of competitveness.

Welcome to S2, ZHAKIDD! Wow, strange to see a Nets fan with "Kidd" in his username. Haven't seen that in a while. I'm guessing you're still a fan, despite this past (ugly) season?

Oh, and although it is very possibly with Paxson in the FO, I doubt we'll be able to get Noc for those guys. I'm not really sure what the Bulls want, either, but I doubt it's JUST those two. Could be a start, though...

Or, how about Lebron might like having a few veterans on the team, making good veteran plays. We won't be getting more than one "superstar" that year, if any.

And of course the Cavs will be better than the Nets. They have Lebron. Take Lebron from the Cavs, and then tell me who is better. That's what matters when it comes to which team he's choosing (if he's trying to decide over multiple teams at all).
 
just curious, when's the last time we were said to be pursuing a guy in a trade and actually got them? Yi came out of nowhere, we never seemed to be said to be interested in Harris, we had interest in Swift previously, but we didn't here anything about him before the trade.

they are trying to cut cost to lock up their own guys, we are trying to cut cost, but at the same time look attractive for Lebron. The vet presence of Carter and Nocioni will just heighten chances imo becuase we will be more competitive. Lebron will look like the missing piece to a solid young squad. Adding Nocioni would be goos so we don't look like absolute garbage this season or the next. We also fill our biggest need at this point SF with a pretty good player. So i'd agree with a Swift, Ager trade for Nocioni. It also matches up salary wise.
 
I say yes to this trade. get rid of all the left over garbage the nets have in KVH contract, swift, trade exception if the nets can use them. Get Nocioni here cause he will help the nets win games this year. He is a lock down defender and the nets will need him with all the rookies on this team. He could help the nets win another 5 to 10 games this year. This would be a nice pick up for the nets, and cost them nothing but garbage to get him.

Let's see... Ray Allen is 33, Paul Pierce is 31, and KG is 32. Did those guys not look like they can compete?

30 is not a death sentence. Nocioni and Carter could be in prime form to help Lebron win a title. Plus Yi will be 24 and Harris 26.
 
I seriously doubt LeBron will ever play with Carter.

Why's that? I guess first off you could hold the opinion that Lebron isn't coming to Brooklyn, so that's a way. However if you think he is coming, then you'll have to notice that Vince's contract won't be finished. So then do you think he'll get traded? I think he's too valuable of a commodity, not just for having a definitive number 2 to lure Lebron here, but lets not forget what else is happening in 2010: Ratner will need somebody to sell tickets (and to keep the 2008-2010 fanbase from killing themselves from 10-win seasons).
 
So how soon can we box up Noc and ship him over to you?
 
im still torn if we should do this... and about the ben gordon... we would have so many defensive problems with gordon and harris as our 1 and 2... we would get posted up by big guards...

Heh heh. Actually most of us are hoping for at least one REALLY bad season. Getting a top 3 pick in 2010 would be awesome.

I don't think Thorn is able to put together a really bad team. In fact, I'm pretty much counting on us having around 35 wins next season.
