I dont think McInnis will have that type of power to kill our chemistry, we are a veteran team who knows how to keep everything in perspective. I remember Mutombo was here in 03' complaining about minutes and his role. Yet, we shook it off serval players pretty much came out in the media and told Mutombo to sit down shut up and act right. And then we went to the finals. Now, later on in the offseason things changed up and guys expressed that Byron Scott, made a mistake not giving Mutombo a legit role. But just goes to show that this team does know how to keep things in perspective and how things should be handle for the most part.
We really only ever had one time where conflicts took us in the wrong direction on the court. And that was when Kidd and B.Scott werent getting along. And alot of guys reportedly stopped playing hard for Byron. And we really struggled on court until Scott was booted. But other then that one guys distractions cant really effect this team in my opinion granted it is some new key guys. But Kidd-RJ etc to strong for that mentally to strong.
I got alot of love for Kerry Kittles....I was here for all 8 seasons of his Nets career. And knocked him at times because he wasnt like some of the guys he came in the league with the Ray Allens etc....until I came to realize that it just wasnt his style to be a guy that takes 20 shots a night, he rather just fit into the team concept. And during the losing years that is what I hated about him...but during the winning time that is what I often most appreciated about his game...so I mean no disrespect to KK when I say there is no way in h***, I would want him back over Jeff McInnis. I would like Kerry back with the team in some form, so he can finish his career with the Nets the way it should be..from a fan standpoint. But he wouldnt be that much of a on-court factor, coming off serious knee problems & surgey. And only playing a handful of games last year.
As far as Travis Best goes...I really wantedf T.Best back instead of Vaughn. But the front office went with Vauhn which meant it was no way Best was going to come back. They werent going to do another year with the two small point guards.
And all those other guys you mentioned Darrell Armstrong clearly wants to end his career with Dallas and probably move into a coaching position under Avery Johnson soon. But realistically the only guys of those that could help us as much as McInnis would be Barry(veteran toughness, and much needed outside shot) and Gary Payton(still effective defense, and the ablity to still run a team). But Payton definately wouldnt be happy with a 20 minute per game role.....he was up set in LA and they were giving him more minutes then we could offer and a bigger role. They were a championship contender, so it would be the same situation all over again, but worst for him.
Brevin Knight wasnt an option for the same reason as Best, Nets arent trying to do the two small backup thing.
