The Nets scrimmage today was played more like a full game than the scrimmages of the last week plus. Instead of a few disparate seven-minute periods, the periods were contiguous. We came in with two periods to go and the first thing you noticed was that Jamaal Magloire was a down-low force for the white team. The big man was being fed on the low block and scored – by my count – 13 points in the two remaining periods.

“They were a lot more conscious of getting me the ball,” said Magloire.

“I’m confident on both sides of the block and I know that when I get the ball on the block, I can score.”

“My legs are not feeling as heavy as they have been; I’m getting the lactic acid out of my body and my conditioning is continuing to improve as the training camp is going on.”

Can't blame the new ball this year, either - we haven't heard a single complaint about it. Yet....The Blue team - that would be the starters, plus Malik/Antoine/Sean - went to Wright on six straight trips at one point in the fourth quarter. Four scores. Very confident rising up on the gallop. He's getting there, and he'll continue to improve as long as he doesn't start cursing himself after missing three in a row. He wanted to put on a show today, too, because his college coach was watching from the sideline.

Frank hopes to have the regular group together playing in the final three games of the preseason....The player that has surprised Armstrong the most is Sean Williams, but the veteran guard said he has a lot of work to do. "He’s very athletic," Armstrong said. "He really doesn’t know the game, so just imagine when does learn the game, how good he's going to be. He’s good right now and he’s going to get better, especially when he learns to look back when Jason throws that ball. He’ll learn really quick after Jason hits him in the head six or seven times."
