Quick Look at the Nets

-The Nets have played only 2 games so far, unlike most teams in the league, and have a 1-1 record.
-The Nets lost to the defending champs, Miami, in their last game.
-X-Factor for the Nets: Collins, Robinson, Moore and Krstic must contain the Jazz?s big men, Okur and Boozer, who are played excellent basketball so far this season.

Quick Look at the Jazz

-The Jazz are one of the top teams in the league right now, after winning 4 out of 4 to kick off the season.
-The Jazz defeated the powerful Detroit Pistons in the last game.
-X-Factor for the Jazz: Stop Carter and Jefferson from getting hot and get the ball to Boozer, the reigning W.C. Player of the Week.

Prediction: Nets win by 9

Sorry about the short preview, I have a huge test in history tomorrow.

I don't know about Nets by 9, this is the same 4-0 Utah Jazz who have beat Houston, Phoenix and Detroit on the way to their 4-0 record. I'd actually put my money on the Jazz in this one. Defensively, AK can do a good enough job on Vince, and RJ IIRC, isn't fully healthy. Deron Williams can also go at Kidd on both ends, and going to the bigs, Boozer and Okur should have nice nights against the Net's bigs.

I can see rebounding being a problem for NJ in this one.

I believe that home-court advantage will be a huge plus for the Nets, as they've played very well in the CCA over the past few years. Other than that, the Jazz don't really have any good perimeter defenders other than Kirilenko and Harpring who can contain Jefferson(who should be good despite his slight injury) or Carter, so if one of them gets into foul trouble or one of the Nets' Big 3 has a good game, perimeter defense will be a problem for the Jazz, like frontcourt defense will be a problem for the Nets. I think that Collins and Robinson can do a decent job on the Jazz's bigs, maybe not shut them down but also not let them score 20 points. Deron Williams was demolished by Kidd last season, and this season shouldn't be too diffrent. Kidd can still shut down Williams offensively, and on defense, Williams is still not good enough to contain Kidd well. If the Nets can keep the Jazz out of the paint, where the Jazz have gotten their wins, then the game will be much easier for them. Same goes for the Jazz, if they find a way to shut down Carter and Jefferson.

kobimel you might be a little one sided there. Shutting down Williams? Dwill did what he had to do against Billups and Nash. He's quicker than he looks. And if Boozer and Okur both got over 20/10 against the Pistons big men, I think they should be able to do the same against the Nets. I do however see the Jazz having a tough time containing Carter (who doesnt) so this game should be close.

But since I'm a crazy Jazz fan I'm going to say Jazz by 5!

Kidd is a much better defender than Nash. He's better than Billups on defense too, not by as much as Nash, but still better. Williams is a great player, I'm not saying he isnt', but I think that Kidd should be able to contain him well, if not shut him down. And Robinson and Collins are capable on defense, I didn't say that Okur and Boozer will have too hard a time against them, just that they can (maybe) keep them to 16/8 instead of 20/10.

I think with Williams he scores so much in the flow off the offense that Kidd shutting him down in terms of scoring won't be a big factor. He's not going to go out of the offense and look for his own shot, so I don't think he'll be shut down. Not saying it's not possible, just don't see it as likely.

In terms of the Jazz bigs, I think Boozer will definately be in the 19-20 point range, and similarly with Okur, maybe about 18 points. If the Jazz also get a good scoring night from AK, I can't see them losing this one unless Carter explodes for a huge game.

If we win this against the 4-0 Jazz we will get a HUGE confidence boost.

That was a nice layup by Kidd. He pulled a Vince Carter.

Man, what a sexy layup by Williams!!

williams having a good game so far

BENCH COLLINS, MOORE NEEDS MOOR TIME!

ahhh im getting so p-oed.

i like the lineup on the floor now (kidd, wright, vince, jefferson, nenad) except id put in moore instead of nenad, i also like the two point guard set, anyways its so hard to cheer because i have deron,ak,and boozer on my fantasy team so i find my self rooting for them lol

Carter is 4-11. His shooting is really killing us, and the sad thing is he is missing a lot of layups.

am i missing something, i saw one layup he missed and thats cause deron hit it(at the end of the 2nd), antoine wright also missed a layup or two as well though

fuckign vince carter! make a damn shot, (just missed two point blank shots like wtf)

ok course right after i post that he gets hurt, doesnt seem too bad thought since he did play on it, im going with a sprianed knee or hype extended

Kidd with only 1 ast? That sucks, I thought he had more.

vince back on the floor, Antoine Wright is playing very well,

That was a pretty shitty game. I was surprised the Jazz were even close at the end.

BTW, do the Nets have no fans or something? All I could hear in that arena were the crickets....

Nice game by VC.

^ I was thinking the same thing.

no it was downpouring here real bad earlier, so a lot of the ways to the arena were flooded.

Man, reading all your posts, I thought the Nets were getting thier butt beaten.

Final Score: Nets 96, Utah 89.

Vince didn't play so well early on, he was 7-20 at one point, but it's good that he made 3 of his last 4 shots, and got to the line. New Jersey did well defensively against the Utah big's, who I thought would've have good games on them. Boozer did fairly well all-round, but his scoring wasn't there volume wise.

Werd. By some camera shots, the arena didn't even look half full. Nets deserve more fans, so that's pretty much why they are moving. If fans don't want to appreciate them then they might as well leave.

I was really getting mad at Carter for all his missed shots, but in crunchtime he stepped it up.

RJ recovered from his game in Miami by adding 23 points.

Kidd scored at good times but had only 2 asts?
dunno.gif

Wright really stepped up and gave us a good 15 pts.

I like how the bench is contributing to wins along with the fantastic 4.

Wow, everyone underestimated the Nets, Utah hasn't been able to beat them in so long, well maybe last game last year, but they have Utah's number. I don't know how but VC just always eats us alive. I wasn't expecting a 5-0 start but when I got home to see it a close game, I was suprised. From what I hear, our whole front court had a bad game and C.J. Miles was wearing his diaper. Sloan also was playing Milisap instead of Boozer, stupid move on his part. Well deserved win for the Nets.
