Thought I would throw a reminder up since it's such an early game.

Orlando Summer League

On a separate note, do you believe those 2 asses got invited onto ESPN Radio?

These guys are to broadcasting what William Hung is to the music industry.

hey, where's the watch now button?

Good question. Under "Watch Live" it says Webcasts begin everyday at 3pm, but on the schedule it says the Nets game is at 11am.

What are the odds they don't broadcast today's game?

"Dust in the Wind" is now playing.

It may be Will Ferrell from Old School.

nice mini comeback, looking for a better second half from B-Lo, CDR needs the ball more. Can we actually win summer league?

Ryan Anderson is the real thing.. very impressed with him. Does anybody know if that slam he threw down yesterday is on youtube yet?

My impressions:

Brook is a very promising.
The good:
Extremely soft touch inside and out to 20'
Goes up strong inside either drawing the foul or getting the basket... or both.
He's huge.
Needs to work:
Rebounding
Positioning on the high pick and roll
Help defense without fouling
Overall: A+ Should be the opening day starting C. Sorry Boone, move aside.

Ryan Anderson
Good:
Seems to have good range.
More athletic than expected.
Needs to work on:
Defense
Rebounding
Overall: C+ He didn't get as much burn as Brook or CDR. I think that says something.

CDR
Good:
He's a baller, albeit unconventional
Has some 3 point range
Gets in passing lanes and pokes the ball away a lot
Needs to work on:
Ball handling
Knowing when to slash and when to spot up
Overall: B+ Will need to iron out his shortcomings, but could be a rotation guy by the end of the season.

SWat
Good:
Still super athletic, good shot blocker, and goes for the exciting finish around the basket
Appears to be committed to improving his defensive IQ
Bad:
Appears totally lost at times on offense
Awkward moves to the basket from outside 8'
Tries to be a ball handler on the break... and this isn't the Rookie Game
Overall: C I was hoping to see some sort of offensive improvement. Defensively he's still fouling a ton. Sadly he hasn't seemed to improve much since the end of the season.

Jaycee Carroll
Good:
Scores inside and out
Not afraid of contact
Hustles
Bad:
Suspect defense
Not a play maker
Overall: B- He did his job. Especially when on the floor with Will Conroy he was out there to score and he did that. If he wants a real chance at making the roster he'd have to show some playmaking ability.

Julius Hodge
Good:
The Nets gave him a chance.
Bad:
He didn't deserve a chance.
Overall: F Maybe he was once a hot prospect, but the dude was outplayed by guys who will never even earn a 10 day contract in their lifetime.

Mo Ager
Good:
N/A
Bad:
He looked bad in 1 game then comes up hurt.
Overall: F/Incomplete He may have just earned himself a nice buyout so he can get a contract overseas.

The most impressive game of the five game set may have been SWat's defense on Beasley. SWat proved he is not just a shot-blocker. His offense is secondary...when you have Lopez, Anderson and Yi all supplying enough offense (and not much D).

Nets should be very pleased with all of them.

I don't expect SWat to be the next Chris Bosh.
I just want him to be able to touch the ball without ruining the flow of the offense.
Right now when gets the ball he does 1 of 2 things:
1. Goes into a triple threat stare down with his defender before passing it off
2. Attempts an out of control dribble drive and forces a shot (which actually goes in at a decent % when he doesn't turn it over).

I'm really happy with his on-ball D. His help D he is a foul machine though. He needs to learn that help D is not always weak side blocks, but more positioning.

Sean needs to find his niche in this league before too it's too late. He would be best I think as a Jerome Williams "junkyard dog" type. Someone who can come in and provide energetic disruption of the flow of the game; someone who can come in and mix things up, get the fans going when the team has hit a lull, etc.

That's what I'm talking about! Forget his overall percentage. If he stays outside three and hits over 42%, it will do wonders for the Nets' offense.

That's an interesting statistic. I think Frank is going to like CDR and give him quite a few minutes this season. Not starter kind of minutes, but more than we may expect.

Is the first pic (of Brook) the only one from today's game? Was Vince there again today?

Yes, and I don't know (the VC pic was from the Bulls game).

I don't think Vince was there. Dumpy can confirm that, though.

where did the pictures come from?

Vince was not there, which was disappointing, since I was hoping to formally challenge him to a footrace.

In the third picture, you can see a balcony. that's where george and dante sit with the camera. The stairs (picture #1) lead up to the balcony. There might be something else up there, too--I'm not sure. It may be an access point to the rest of the sportsplex.
