I would suggest that "let the cake bake" is pretty well played out. We need a new-and-improved phrase. An all purpose phrase that can be used to shut down debate and silence critics at their keyboards.

My nomination: "Let the cat harf a hairball in the shoe!"

Not bad...needs work....any other ideas?

I'm patient and sticking with letting the cake bake.

I've simply been using "Bake it!" lately to shut down my critics.

Either it's working or everyone has me on ignore. :dunno:

I think the RG crowd chanting BAKE IT! would really inspire the team as it shows we have confidence in them.

Rip Cakey!

Bingo, Bango, Cake-o!

Oh, my, that was CAKEY!

Phil Jackson is confused, confounded, and caked!

You've got to make your free cakes.

Ball movement, cake movement.

Red hot and cakey.

Rise with us.

I was not a cake major.

Depending on the situation:

Letting the cake bake is better than a half-baked team!

Now, for the icing!

Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

"Let the cake bake" is just code for "wait 'till next year." It's easily the most played out phrase on the forum since "It's going to be Martell Webster's breakout year."

I'm currious to know, from those of you that don't want to improve the team, when will you all think it is time for upgrades or trades in general?

You all say let the cake bake, which is fine I guess, but when will it be time to let's say try to get a better PG, or better SF?

I middle of next year we are not looking like we are going to make playoffs... I'd trade. Looks like we are headed to playoffs this year last time I checked though. Far exceeding projections considering out schedule.

The other thing I think it is important to point out... is that a trade wouldn't necessarily improve the team. It may on paper... but it may have a negative impact on player moral and effort on the court. Just thinking we make a change and the team will play better is trader bob mentally.

I wouldn't be against a trade, but I kind of like the idea of waiting until the off-season and we can make a trade w/ more capspace, or sign a FA, or do something through the draft.

But if the right trade comes along, I'd do it. I trust KP.

Let the calf grow into a cow.

Let the bacon sizzle.

Don't mow the seeds, mow the grass.

Don't drink 10-year Scotch when it's 5-years old.

Let the beer ferment.

Can sign Rachel Ray - who according to the game programs is Brandon's favorite - and replace that silly "rise with us" to "bake with us" (they are both the same, if I understand something about baking - and I am not an expert by any means), but the 2nd is less obtuse.

So, "Bake with us" it is.

(Either that or "let the Fondu melt" - but people do not seem to appreciate it).

Time to decorate the cake - with playoffs, baby!

(append photo of decorated cake - unfortunately mine are all at home and I'm at work)

I remember those days :devilwink:

Dunleavy in the huddle: "Hey Sheed if Damon throws you a lob do you think you could dunk over Shaq?
Sheed: "Ya I would have to be pretty high though!"
Dunleavy: "I bet you would Panama Red.

When someone on the current roster retires, IMO.

This is a Dynasty as is once these youngun's get a year or 2 experience playing together, and playing a certain style together.

As long as you continually change things we would have been better of with the JailBlazers squad.

We made the sacrifices, now we need patience.

I like how everyone says no changes, bake the shit, etc. How many were yelling that when Jack was traded on draft day? How many were yelling that when we didn't re-sign James Jones? How many were yelling that when we elected to bring Rudy and Batum over? Fact is, we had great chemistry on our team last year. This year, we have 5 new players on the roster, 1 starting, and one playing a lot of minutes and guess what? Still great chemistry. Funny how that works. We already played around with the batter. The fucking cake analogy is no good anymore. We have a smart GM who keeps character and fit in mind when making trades, and he isn't going to trade just to trade, but he also isn't just going to sit on his hands because he thinks we have a dynatsy.

Who are these people who don't want to improve this team?

Garbage.

Until they win 10 championships in 11 years we ALL want to improve this team.

We differ on how to get there. Let the players develop and grow together, then decide what if any fixes are needed? Or trade for a 30 something star in hopes of getting a few more wins now?

I for sure don't want "trades in general". I want trades that work toward the eventual goal of helping the young talent become a championship team.

Again I will ask the original question.

How long to wait crandc?

A few more wins now by the way get us into the playoffs, or home court if we start to play better. A few more wins help our young guys learn how to play in the playoffs, and how to play on the floor by learning from the veterans

RR7, the things you mentioned are valid, except... they were done in the OFF season. Every one. The cost was also very minimal. If you are making a change in the middle of the season (of any type of significance) you are desparately rolling the dice. It didn't help Dallas or Phoenix last year.

I think you need to have a plan B for the trade.

For example, a lot of people here seem to like Steve Nash. If a deal went down to get him and it didn't make Portland one of the elite teams in the west then KP should be thinking about when trading for him making sure he is trading away salary as well because Nash is a FA next season and then at worst KP has cleared cap space to sign someone.
