New Buzz Phrase

I understand they happened in the offseason, and I am not begging for just any trade. But a trade is a trade, and we came into this season with 1/3rd of our roster new additions from last year, but people were using the same cake baking slogan last year, and the point is, we swapped out a third of the ingredients in the cake, but everyone still hammers along the same mantra of NO TRADES! And I am just curious if those same people are still upset ovwer the deals and overhaul we made in the offseason, and if it has had a serious negative effect on the team. Because there are a few who think that any trade is all of a sudden going to kill any chance we ever had of winning a title.

Who are these people who don't want to improve this team?

Garbage.

Until they win 10 championships in 11 years we ALL want to improve this team.

We differ on how to get there. Let the players develop and grow together, then decide what if any fixes are needed? Or trade for a 30 something star in hopes of getting a few more wins now?

I for sure don't want "trades in general". I want trades that work toward the eventual goal of helping the young talent become a championship team.

Same here. I think team improvement will come faster and last longer by sticking with this formula of bringing in young draft talent while the crop we have gets better and better.

We got all this YOUNG talent for a specific reason.

Dynasty.

Bake it!

Do you honestly think that the team, as currently constructed, is unique in the history of the NBA and can win NBA championships without making any personnel moves?

Certainly.

Don't you?

I would suggest that "let the cake bake" is pretty well played out. We need a new-and-improved phrase. An all purpose phrase that can be used to shut down debate and silence critics at their keyboards.

My nomination: "Let the cat harf a hairball in the shoe!"

Not bad...needs work....any other ideas?

"Sympathy Hurl" never gets old.

How about: quit crying, this is the 2nd youngest team in the league.

Or maybe: stop whining, we're on pace for 49 wins...bitch.

Something like that?

I love Steve Nash. But he's already showing signs of breaking down. By the time Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Sergio, Rudy, hit their prime in 2-3 years he'd be gone. So which of the Blazers' top talents should they trade for him?

That's what I meant by get a few more wins this year or go for a bunch of titles in 2-3 years.

How about trusting KP? The team improved, dramatically, every year since he's been GM. He's not made a bad move yet. Even those that were panned - drafting Roy, trading Zach Randolph, Telfair, Monia, Khryapa, drafting Rudy et al- were any of them bad?

Here's to the new slogan:

The cake is a lie.

Got milk?

With a photo of Bayless on a milk carton, because he's basically a lost child at this point getting no minutes.

It's brilliant, I love it!

BTW--while finding this graphic I came across one of my favorite lines from Portal. Thought I'd share:

"There was even going to be a party for you. A big party that all your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you MURDERED HIM. All your other friends couldn't come either because you don't have any other friends because of how unlikable you are. Unlikable, it says so here in your personnel file: Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter, unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned. SHALL. NOT. BE. MOURNED. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you're adopted, so that's funny too."

Kinda like we just needed patience with the late-80's team? Oh wait, we traded a young player and a draft pick for a veteran banger PF in Buck Williams and started winning like mad. Also, by trading Bowie, allowed Duck to be "the Man" at center.

"Searching for the baking soda!!" ...because we're still 1 ingredient short...
