Ouch!

Kinda surprised to see Paul on the same tier as Bachmann.

Of their candidates, he has the best chance against Obama.

And by that you mean he has no chance.

The Republicans sure are trotting out some awful candidates. It's almost like some kind of bad joke...

I disagree that he has no chance, and I'm not saying that to appease the woofing gods or appear moderate. I don't think it's a sure thing for re-election

They should do a Survivor type of thing. Put all of them on an island with no food and the one who survives is the nominee.

Mitt Romney also leads the GOP field in flop sweats during debates.

Dude looked like he ran through an airport right before hitting the stage the other night.

The way these debates have been set up is unfortunate. I've had a very difficult time trying to determine/compare where each of these candidates stand on the various issues. The format is veneer thin.

I was at least curious as to what Gingrich meant by utilizing some type of no-holds-barred, 3-hour, non-interrupted cage match debate. That sounds fun!

That's right, because this is a popularity contest, nothing more.

Even as a republican, I just can't vote for Romney. Sad to say if I had to choose, it would be Obama over him, yes he's had a horrible first term, but I think it's taken that for him to figure it all out.

Sad days for the GOP.

Might as well just give it to Bachmann, then.

Not saying it's a popularity contest, but that he's not super extreme in his positions and doesn't seem against the idea that he can change his mind.

Indeed. With Republicans like you, who needs Democrats?

I don't think this poll means a lot. Any semi-rational person would say Romney is the most likely of the lot. That doesn't mean he'll win, just that no other single candidate has a higher likelihood at present.

If I had to bet, I'd bet on Romney and give pretty good odds. Luckily, I don't have to bet, I just have to sit back and laugh.

Gingrich is gaining momentum. I want to hear more of what he has to say. As previously mentioned, though, these debates are relatively worthless in helping me compare the candidates.

Romney looks like a total chode. If that's our choice over Obama, I vote for a revolution.

I thought that 21% figure was kind of interesting. Undecideds mean everything.

21% did not say they were undecided. They werent being asked who they support or who they will vote for. They were asked to guess who will win the nomination.

Meaning, 21% did not associate with that particular group. That's still a rather large number. Other than Romney, it's the largest figure of the bunch.

As a Dem, the one that I fear gets the nom is Romney. He might be able to win in a general, at least it's a close call. Any of the others get their asses handed to them. And if Romney wins, and he then goes againt Obama, it's not that bad. Either he wins or loses. If he loses, a Dem stays in power. And if he wins, a moderate takes power. Not that bad. I really only fear the extreems getting in.

I think it's obvious Palin will run.

She'll never have a weaker field of Reps to compete against in her lifetime.

W was a moderate. Compassionate Conservative.

I think it'd be better to have a guy who believes in something and sticks to it.

It matters what the something is.

W was not a moderate. At least in my book, i never saw him as anything but a right wing wacko.

W overreacted to 9-11.

No, that 21% may include staunch Romney supporters but that wasn't the question. These 21% merely aren't sure who will win which has nothing to do with who they are supporting.

Exactly. Which goes back to my basic assertion that 21% is a lot of undecideds.

A right wing whacko wouldn't have made education a top priority in his first 100 days.

He and his father are the only two republicans since Lincoln to be president at the start of a war.

His father was a moderate, too. First two things he passed were a clean air act and citizens with disabilities act. He called Reaganomics "voodoo" then hiked taxes and presided over a deep enough recession he wasn't reelected.
