Please tell me who, of available candidates, you think is a better GM candidate than KP.

Ed O.

Ok, only after you tell me who has better steaks in the world than Kansas City.

Speaking of logic

The key word there is "available".

Available candidates fall into two categories: unproven and already fired by another team. It is quite possible for a reasonable person to arrive at the conclusion that KP *is* better than the alternatives. Is that overvaluing KP? Maybe......but even as a frequent KP critic, I am unimpressed with the available options.

Wait, you're tweaking those who say KP is head and shoulders above other GMs? I think he is head and shoulders above others. Not ALL. But others.

Do you think that KP is not making himself available for the NJ gig, or do you think that the Nets are making a mistake by not hiring him?

As I said, I am begining to suspect that his severance agreement contains a "no compete" clause. A one year vacation on PA's money, and he will still be able to get a job after the lock-out is resolved. With no one knowing for sure what the new CBA is going to look like, the next 12 months for GMs is going to be like tap-dancing in a mine-field anyway.

Another answer: just re-read this thread objectively and see who's getting their panties in a wad. THOSE are the people who, I believe, overvalue KP's capabilities.

Ed O.

Overvaluing Pritchard is one thing, but what you said in your OP was something completely different. Care to revise the OP, or is this your retraction?

As I said, I can say someone is a 7 footer, and then I can say that same person is tall.

Those things are not inconsistent. Everyone who is a 7 footer is tall, but not everyone that is tall is a 7 footer.

You guys really need to think before you post if you're going to try to find inconsistencies in my posts.

In other words, you made up your entire "tweak". Was that so hard to admit?

In other, entirely fabricated and inconsistent with reality words. Sure.

Why on earth would I admit that?

At least two people in this thread have been unable or unwilling to name a single available GM that is equal to or superior to KP. That reinforces to me that some posters here think that KP is head and shoulders above (meaning: superior to) the other GMs that are being discussed, including the two that the Nets have reportedly targeted as finalists.

Fine, I can't say for certain that any of the "unproven" candidates (EG Cho) are going to be better than KP. They might be - but I admit I don't know. Honestly, I would prefer the Blazers go this direction, as the potential reward is greater.

As for the retreads, you can make a case for Thorn being better, and Pfund is a bit of a mystery (was he just Riley's gopher, or was he really a key player?) I would be fine with Warkentein - but he is supposedly not a candidate. Ferry, Kiki, and Knight don't impress me. Who am I missing?

Again, the key word is "available". Petrie, Presti, Buford, Morely, et al don't qualify.

Dear God man, nobody is arguing with you regarding the tallness of 7 footer's

Like I said. Par for the course.

Yep that's exactly what that means

Just because she beat Bobby Riggs????

I definitely think they should consider Bobby Riggs for this position. I think he might be dead though... if that matters.
