Positon-by-Position

Point Guard:Tinsley/Kidd: Kidd has been playing well and Tinsley just came back and isn't 100%. Tinsley might have good numbers and might play well but Kidd will take advantage of Tinsley and will most likely have better numbers.
Advantage: Nets

Shooting Guard:Miller/Carter: I think both player will have better numbers. It will be hard for both players to guard. Miller runs around, gets screens and if he loses his defender and gets an open jumper he will make it. For Carter he will go inside, take jumpers and is almost impossible to stop one on one.
Advantage:Nets.. but only by a little bit

Small Foward:Jackson/Scalabrine: Jackson has great numbers and is too quick for Scalabrine. If Scalabrine won't be able to hold him, then their might be a defensive switch.
Advantage: Pacers

Power Foward:Collins/Croshere:This will be tough for Collins. He would have to chase Croshere all the way to the three-point line. Croshere will be faster but i think Croshere might have problems with Collins on the defensive side.
Advantage: Pacers

Center:Foster/Krstic: I think it will be an even game between them. We know that both Foster and Krstic can have good numbers. It depends on which one will get into a quick start
Advantage: EVEN

Predication- Can go both ways.Even with all the problems the Pacers have, they can still pull away the game in their favor. It depends on who gets off to a quick start.

The only thing that scares me about the game against the Pacers on Wednesday, is the fact that we dont have anyone on our perimeter who is great at chasing guys around screens. And the way Reggie Miller has been playing lately that could cause a problem. In past years of course we would throw Kerry Kittles who is great at chasing offensve guys around screens. But this year with no KK guys who use screens well kill us, Iam guessing Jason Kidd will get the assignment against Reggie tho...that means we must use alot of small ball so Travis Best can check Anthony Johnson.

Other then that we need a strong game from our frontline, the Pacers frontline with Greg Forster and Dale Davis dont score much but they really work the boards on both ends, that means Collins and Krstic must make sure to keep a body on their bigs at all time, cant get relaxed cause their is no Jermiane Oneal for them.

Stephen Jackson/Vince Carter should be a nice matchup to watch since I think VC will be playing alot of 3 in a matchup vs the Pacers.

If philly beats Miami, you can kiss them good-bye. But the Nets are still not out. They have to win thier remaining for games and hope that philly loses two (one of them against the Nets).

Major blow it was and probably makes getting in almost impossible, but we still have slight life left. I knew Reggie was going to have some great looks at the basket cause we just dont have anyone who can keep up with him coming off screens, Kidd try to but chasing guys off screens isnt defensively what Kidd does best. Anyway, seems like forever Reggie has been able to draw or at least convince the refs to call some of the most foolish calls in the world. And the Nets got bit by that tonight. He stuck out his leg in patten Reggie fashion and then spin to the floor after he shot the rock. And got the game changing 4pt play out of it.

Anyway, I think Coach frank made a couple of decision mistakes in this one...In my earlier post I said that I dont think the Nets can play alot of the big lineup tonight with Kidd, and then Carter at the 2, and Scali at the three along with the bigs, and the third quarter was exactly the reason I felt the small lineup had to be used a majority of the night. With that big lineup Coach franks had on the court, the Pacers had quickness advantages almost every time down the court. And that allowed them to get into the lane continuosly in the 3rd, espacially Anthony Johnson trying to be guarded by B.Scali, it was almost a joke, how easily Johnson could get past him and draw other Nets to find guys in that 3rd. I know it doesnt seem like it to some but not bring Best into the game sooner in the 3rd was a huge mistake. I definately dont want to blame the lost on Coach Frank, but I knew how we matched up against their perimeter would be key, and we got bit in the 2nd half.

awww damn! major blow for nets gaining ground on philly. cliff was wide open 3 pointer to give nets the lead but couldnt make it. now just hoping philly loses to heat and pacers and nets can get a win when carter goes back to toronto.

I hate that Reggie Miller for making that 3 pointer in the 4th will about 2 minutes left and he got fouled and got a 4-point play!!!!!!

then he got another 3 right after taht. taht wat lost the game. If uncle Cliffy could have made that final 3, they probabely would have gone into OverTime. too bad, they best get into teh playoffs! pretty good game tho

If the Nets don't make the playoffs, they have no one to blame but themselves. They had a perfect opporunity however, they didn't take advantage. The KEY game for them is when they play the Sixers. If they don't win that game, I think they'll be sitting home this year.

Actually if they dont make it, technically it wont be THEIR fault, it will be Ratner's fault for getting ris of Kittles, Martin, Rogers, Harris and the others. Since Carter, they have been doing failry good. besides RJ is hurt and kidd wasnt playing the entire year. he was out the first few weeks of the season. they would be getting into the PO if nothging was wrong at the season's start. At least i say so.

They're all a team so everyone counts for one another. Don't use injuries as an excuse, they had a perfect opportunity to make it and if they don't, they can only blame themselves.

They had an opportunity & still do, but I definately wouldnt call it a perfect opportunity, they had to fight out of a major hole that was created early in the season due to a major roster over hall. And then during the course of the year they made even more dramatic changes, fact is this team probably expereinced more change over the last 6 months then any team in the league by a mile. And with that changes comes struggles......so they have to be given alot of credit for never once folding the tint. And continue to stay in the race with less then 6 games to play in the season.

When I said perfect, I meant if they won their next 5 games, they would be in the postseason for sure. That's good for them and it really shows the heart of the team, but things like that happen. Carter played 53 games with the Nets and I think that's a lot of time. I know chemistry, injuries etc., have taken a tole on the Nets, but that happens to all teams.
