Not to suppress conversation on the topic at all... just bemoaning my shoe-based geriatric state.

Saw a cool B-Roy commercial for these when I was watching ESPN this morning. He was talking about how he'd be shooting in the snow and his mom would tell him to put gloves on if he's going to play ball outside.

This is how the BeerBoy rolls:

I was going to get a pair of Common Projects.....I think some suede boots....should have....the patent leather is a little too flashy for me though.

but as a result of my knee being all fucked up....can't really use hoop shoes that much anymore anyways.....

Nice common projects... by any chance do you post on superfuture?

I was thinking back to my middle school and high school days and the shoe we wore.

Middle school - adidas Top Ten was the shoe to wear.

High school - Nike Jordan original but in black and gold.

Shoes that are so old that I can't find a picture of either style on the entire web.

I don't. I have a friend that owns a men's clothing store, though, so I get all sorts of stuff that, as a straight dude, I would never even see or hear of. :)

to me, the CPs were very plain looking.....dunno why they're so expensive.

The plain look is the style. The leather is italian and the designers are kinda a big deal, I guess. That adds up to fucking expensive shoes.

The patent leather IS very flashy, and I don't wear them that often... regular shoe rotation helps keep them from getting worn out. Haha.

do the chicks notice them at all?

because that is my main criteria for buying shoes.

Of course they do. Why else would I wear them?

;)

The sole of the shoe is considered insulting, I believe. Not the entire shoe.

Oh. So why was the guy throwing his shoe at Bush and missing him considered such an insult? Wouldn't he have actually had to be hit by the sole? I remember seeing video of Iraqis taking their shoes off and whacking Saddam's statue with their soles; that seemed like an insult.

Well, the insult is that the guy was aiming the sole at Bush, with the intent to hit with it. That was the uniquely Arab part of the insult. I think throwing stuff at a person is pretty universal as an insult (except for specific exceptions, like throwing rice at a wedding couple).
