New Offense: Flare Screens and more for Biebs

So, in a way, the offense will be different this year. We'll still be running some of the same stuff as last year, but running plays for forwards and centers instead of just guards.

There's no way Legend doesn't start. It was written in the books pretty much the moment Aldridge left. Stotts would not have started a lineup with more than 2 non-shooters, and this team is lacking shooters as is.

I really like Vonleh though. Long term, do we start Leonard and Vonleh together?

Right now, absolutely, but long term?

It will be interesting to see. We need to see how both Legend and Vonleh do on the defense against real centers. If one of them can hold the fort against the real centers in the league - I do not see why these two can not play together as the starters - both are good shooters - which will work well for Stotts - and if even one of them can be a semi-reliable post presence - you got a great foundation for the modern NBA.

I do like Plumlee though. He seems like a sharp guy. A tough guy. Plays the role of a blue collar center perfectly.

I do like him as well. I believe that if this team can get some shooters at the off-guard and SF position - you can see him in the Robin Lopez role - but if this team can not get a shooter out of Aminu/Harkless/Crabbe and Henderson/whoever plays the 2 long term - they can compensate by having 2 big shooters.

He's a nice trade chip though, if we end up going with Leonard at the center spot.

This season looks a lot like there are a lot of moving parts that you throw on the board and see what sticks, the rest are likely trade chips.

There are potentially 5 productive bigs already with Legend, Kaman, Plumlee, Davis and Vonleh. I am almost certain that this year is not going to end with all 5 on the roster.

I agree. I think something will happen before the trade deadline.

After watching Leonard play against Gasol/Randolph in the playoffs, I have no doubt he can hold his own. Also, since he still has a LOT of room for improvement, I think he is going to be very effective.

I don't believe he will every be much of a shot blocker (1-2/game), since I feel that is not really a skill you can greatly improve on, you either have it or you don't.

Leonard and Plumlee will start the season as C and PF, Plumlee will most likely be our starting center for the year sans injury. Though I could see Leonard being replaced by Vonleh mid season or so.

I think Meyers starts because he is a better shooter right now than the inexperienced Vonleh. But down the road I can see Meyers as the first one off the bench at both the 4 and 5.

My guess at the moment, until I see more, is that Plumlee is our starting center....for years. He is the best defensive center on the roster without question.

I guess there could be a trade before the deadline (for Davis) if there is
a steal to be made. No reason to do a mid season trade though unless we are either contending for the playoffs or someone who is......needs a big, and has a talented young wing or an extra 1st round draft pick to give us. Teams slotted after #20 should not call.

Kaman on the other hand can be had by a desperate team who needs depth heading into the playoffs, as I doubt he will return next year if he does not play this year.
