Im thinking of buying a new PC a 512MB of Ram ones but the question is can I just buy the tower.. Not a new keyboard.. not a new monitor just the tower... if yes how much would it cost round about?

check Dell.com for stuff like that. And get 1gb of ram, 512 isn't enough these days.

I cant find just the towers on Dell... how much are we speaking for 1GB roughly?

Dont goto PC World.. if you have that over there. They are con artists

Beggsy, what are you looking to do with the pc? If you walk into a pc shop, thats the 1st thing theyll ask you.

And I agree with flight, certainly get greater than 512MB of ram, i got 2GB. Also, get DDR2 ram as its faster.

I just got a new comp:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 ghz
2GB DDR2-RAM
Nvidia 7900GTX 512MB

For that, i ordered the parts separately, and got a local pc shop to build it for me

If your gonna use it for gaming, a good guide is to look at the recommended system requirements of new games, and go one step above them.

If you get a pc for games, itll pretty much do everything else.

Want a gaming PC, try Alienware.com the best gaming pc's / laptops you will ever find.

Yeah alienware is expensive.

Just research what you want in a comp (ie: what type of processor etc) and buy it at a local shop. Theyre generally cheaper.

I guess.. I dont know very much about PC's and processors etc..

Read reviews. they'll always give you a good indication.

I spent 2,500 AUD on mine but thats not very helpful.

Nope, no tutorial sites, but i know all the components come with books etc. that may tell you where to put stuff.

I know someone who can get me lotsa good stuff and then build it.

If you dont know how to build a pc then dont build one. I have built one and they aint easy, trust me. Leave it to the shops beggsy.

Fine any suggestions on what I should get like
Processor
Ram
HD
Graphics card

keeping in mind I only want to spend around 700 quid or less

This what I have, but i went overboard with mine

Processor: Intel Core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz
Ram: 2GB DDR2
Video: Nvidia 7900GTX 512MB
HDD: 120Gb

HDD's are really cheap nowadays, i got mine for about 90 Australian.

My graphics card cost 700 AUD so you probably dont need sumthing that powerful
