UN Sec Council passes "sanctions" against Iran. 10-2, with China and Russia and France onboard.
Even though it still allowed China to invest in Iran's nuclear energy program, to get China's vote.
And letting Russia deal with Iran in selling them a high-powered air defense system, to get Russia's vote.

""It sends an unmistakable message about the international community's commitment to stopping the spread of nuclear weapons.....We will ensure that these sanctions are vigorously enforced, just as we continue to refine and enforce our own sanctions on Iran," he said.
- President "Kick Someone's Ass" Obama

"these (U.N.) resolutions have no value...it is like a used handkerchief that should be thrown in the waste bin."
"Sanctions are falling on us from the left and the right. For us they are the same as pesky flies...We have patience and we will endure throughout all of this
- President Ahmadinejad

Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency says this:
Ali Asghar Soltanieh added: "We will continue without any interruption our enrichment activities ...(they) will not be suspended, even for a second."

So what you are saying is that you believe PR statements when they come from Iran, but not when they come from Washington?

Or is your point that since Ahmewhatever is still able to talk, Obama hasn't kicked his ass enough?

Don't you?

Yes.

um, I'm saying that this isn't an "unmistakable" message if the person you're sending it to thinks it has no value, and that no changes will occur. Do YOU, barfo, think that the President's correct here? That this sends an "unmistakable" message that we're serious now about them stopping, and we have the world on our side?

Don't you?

No, both administrations are terrorist nazi socialist fascist tree-huggers now, so I believe everything they both say.

So you believe everything the Iranian government says? Really?

Of course not, that's just the script that every president has read from for the past bazillion years. It's what you are supposed to say in that situation, like "bless you" when someone sneezes.

And similarly, the Iran playbook is to denounce the sanctions and brag that they are ineffective. It's what they are supposed to say. It's not news.

I actually believe what you say.

About this, anyway.

Except that, by ALL accounts, Iran is continuing with the nuclear program they've been sanctioned to stop for almost a decade now. And every time that sanctions have been used in the past, Iran's laughed and continued their programs. So one side's "playbook" is continuing with flaunting this, in the face of world "sanctions", while the other side thinks that somehow, some way, this[/] round of sanctions sends the "unmistakable message" that "we're serious now, so stop!"

When it comes to Iranian nuclear programs, and them saying "Yes, we're doing what we want no matter what"...they have a decade of flipping the world the bird. Yes, I believe them when they say they're going to continue doing so.
