A socialist progressive won't win the heartland or south, southeast.
When farmers were thriving you'd have a point here but they are on welfare since Trump took office....tax payers are paying farmers about 18 billion dollars not to sell soybeans to China..most of that money will probably end up in buying crops for storage until they can recoup their harvest..at pennies on the dollar...you think they're happy? The south has probably more Hispanic and African American voters than conservative whites...and in my view they are going to show up at the polls this time with an agenda. Texans aren't super happy about Trump these days either....nor are people who's property now has a wall between them and their neighbors...The militia nuts who go to protect or support this wall are usually traveling there from somewhere else like Idaho. The coal industry has failed and the auto industry is working under threat of the trade war that will make them LESS competitive on the global market.....the war with China should have been over intellectual property and copyright laws....not cutting off their consumers from our markets but going after those folks making Gibson guitars in Canton....who have nothing to do with Gibson....or the folks selling new dvds of movies that haven't come out on dvd yet here...etc..patent theft is rampant in China....but those are corrupt businessmen...not Chinese workers buying tofu products.

I just cant see midwestern farmers voting for Bernie or EW? I may be wrong. They will support a more moderate democrat though. Im thinking more like 2024 the country may be more ready for democratic socialism.
I know many midwestern farmers are looking forward to selling more into Mexico and Canada too.

And then of course the super religious people, they will stand by the pussy grabber because that makes total sense.

Are you intentionally offending people of religion whether or not they voted for Trump?

Bigotry begins in such ways.

For the record, I am agnostic raised in religion and highly schooled in the sciences. I do not believe one section of the populace is to blame for the current issues we have in our nation.

Oh man...right out of hs, not much, I was working as painter I think somewhere around 1.25 hr. Then went on to some retail at Lipmans company downtown in the stock room for min wage.
It was tough saving and it took me a few years to get a down payment saved I was single & it was a small starter home in Westmorland two blocks for the park.
I putdown around $1800. FHA, 1970.
That house now would sell for $300K plus.
Back then young people didn't mind taking minimum wage jobs and there wasn't as many in the low wage work force. It was intended to as a stepping stone which it was for me.
The market here now isn't anything like it was back then.
I know here, housing cost as a percentage of income is crazy.
Go to the suburbs now. Better living conditions and more reasonable.

you are correct. I should not lump all religions together. I meant to offend mostly white religious people (I am white), where -
-82% of white born again Christians voted trump
- 60% of white Catholics voted trump
-58% of white Protestants voted trump
- 62% of Mormons voted trump
While only 26% of religiously unaffiliated people voted trump.

So yes, this is who I blame. Numbers don’t lie.

Well, Warren is leading in Iowa on the dem ticket as of now so not sure she can't carry the farmers as many are sick and tired of being pawns in trumps trade war with China.

If she wins there it will be because of Trump backlash, the same as Trump winning because of Obama backlash, Obama winning because of Bush backlash...

Things don’t get better, only more reactionary and divided.

completely disagree....this country is more divided than ever already....it can improve....Trump has set that bar back since elected...he's the most partisan president in American history...guy can't work across the aisle....we need people who will work on problems...not create them. Under Trump global military expansion has been enjoyed by Russia, N Korea, Iran and China....Iran can now freely justify making nukes for war....they weren't even considering it under Obama....he solved that issue....Trump broke it. Russia has sent it's navy to Cuba, Venezuela, Honduras and other neighboring countries....under Obama...they wouldn't have done that.. I see Trump as someone who identifies with dictators and royals....he's even talked about wanting to be president for many terms...not just one or two..to me...these flags are real...I wish I didn't have to be concerned about our govt but I have no choice. I just want to go fishing really. Last really reactionary period was the Nixon era....this one is very, very similar in nature.

You'll get no argument from me about Trump being awful. He's a self-centered, egotistical, shallow-thinking, miserable excuse for a human being as far as I'm concerned. He is undoubtedly the worst president of my lifetime and perhaps the history of our country. The sooner his butt is gone, the better. And of course the country is divided, but I see that as a part of a downward spiral in political discourse over the past 20 years.

Trump didn't happen in a vacuum. He would have been treated the same way he was the first time he ran and would never have gotten the nomination if right-wingers weren't so spittin' mad about Obama and the way the Democrats shoved Obamacare down their throats. They were in no mood for a centrist, lets-work-together-for-the-common-good, guy like Jeb Bush. They wanted an a-hole like Trump who would dare to say the nasty things that they wanted to say about Hillary and the whole Democratic Party. They got what they wanted and now it's likely going to destroy the Republican Party for years to come. And he's so energized the left that it looks like they're ready to go all-in on Warren and her platform of give-aways, big taxes, and anti-business blather. When the country desperately needs someone who will move to the middle and remind us of the things that are in our common interest and good about this country; someone with a vision for dealing with the big problems we face, we're going to get someone who comes across as angry about everything and who tries to shove the country further left, thereby alienating even more people in the middle along with the already angry right. It's a sad state of affairs as far as I'm concerned.

Your impression of Warren is not mine.....I think she's smart and professional...she's not anti business....she's anti corrupt business practices....just her criminal justice reform plan alone is better than anything I've seen proposed in DC in ages....if you're worried she'll give money back to the EPA or Doctors without Borders....you're right ...she will. I read her info and listened to the debates....and as a woman publicly insulted by Trump....yeah...she's pissed at him...so is the world pretty much. Going after insurance companies bloated profits along with big pharma and private prison systems that want to fill their beds is a commendable stance not limited to the left....moderates want this too.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own takes.

You can't fix stupid....Trump won't survive the next election with the same Tupport he got in the first one. He's pissed off enough republicans, farmers and auto workers at this point to tip those scales...
There is the segment that votes for a logical calm diplomatic candidate rather than the absurd narcissistic blow hard tweeting nut that we have been subjected to since he possessed the office.

I spent some time reading her policy proposals on her website and elsewhere. I find it shocking that a major candidate for president can put out so many ideas that, if adopted, would have such a sledgehammer effect on the basic economy and social fabric of our country. Take a couple of the most important ones and run with those like Obama did with healthcare and that’s reasonable. Her approach of shotgunning every lefty wish list item comes across to me as either crazy or deceitful. I agree that she’d never get many of those policies enacted, but they show her anti-business and redistributitive predilections. After Trump, I want a uniter, not an abrasive charlatan promising more than can possibly be delivered.

I think it's amusing that you think Warren is a wild-eyed radical and jonnyboy thinks she's an establishment stooge.

You left out women who aren't too fond of him;
And Hispanics;
And Black Americans;
And college educated Americans;
And those on Obama Care;
And those hurt by our Trade wars;
And those who are decent Americans;
And professionals;
And ex employees of Trump and of his administration;
And ...
...and the union members that got shafted resulting in thousands of lawsuits when he was a "businessman". All unions should unify against him from what he did to these union members.

They voted mostly against Hilary, imo. Did you?

Looks pretty clear eyed to me compared to beady eyed Donald...….and she has her own skin and hair...that's pretty wild. She's a very focused speaker...and she doesn't slump like Trump..I want a president with their eyes open myself. Trump calls women horse faces, etc......she doesn't give a shit what he says. It helps when a candidate is actually literate...Trump doesn't read books to children because....he can't

Trump is not the benchmark.

Unless you’re measuring the depth of the septic tank, I guess.

He absolutely is the benchmark in this election....I think he'll face off against Warren and comparing the two....you tell me she's crazier than him? ok......good luck with that. She's not going to mail in an election campaign like Hillary did....thinking she'd ride into office on Obama's coattails...If she'd stood up to Trump last election he would've crumbled....she tried to be civil and calm.....the next candidate needs to make some noise and get right in his grill. I feel confident americans will not make the same mistake twice in a row this election.

Yep. I think there are enough people that didn't vote for trump and won't vote for him this time either. but then there is the group that voted for trump that will be in the fool me once shame on you but fool me twice shame on me category that won't be fooled again (hmmm, that sounds like a good song title.). trump has done nothing to increase his base and alienated even more.

I didnt care what Trump or any presidents thinks about those issues.
But, I, did care lot about them and worked my ass off with pride to pay them off. To me its was part of the American Dream in the 50's, if you wanted a house, education and medical coverage, you got a job and did the best you could. My fist house was about $12000. and I saved like crazy on a moderate income for a down payment. I wasn't leasing new vehicles or purchasing $1000. iPhone 11 pro's either.
My parents generation taught me that nothings free and learn to save and work hard and don't expect/demand all the creature comforts of life right away, it takes time to acquire with good decision making.
I've instilled those same values in my kids. One son went to UofO and I helped where I could but he worked all through college.
One question. Could you please elaborate on what a 'fist' house is? Do they have fist fights there? Oh come on, just having fun.

When my company issued think pads way back and I got an e-mail informing me I may have a virus, I didn't know if I should throw the damn thing out the window or put rubber gloves on.
