Wow, the list seems to be growing.

People who now shouldn't be allowed to vote:

Women
U.S. citizens who weren't born here
Non-landowners

i haven’t looked at all the results yet but is this a legitimate blue wave?

Not really. Dems won in traditional Dem states.

A few small elections, like water board and dog catcher, went to Dems in traditional red states, but nothing major.

New Jersey expected to be close, possible Republican win. Democrat win overwhelmingly. South Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey all saw legislative seats flipped. Buffalo mayor flipped. Bucks County sheriff flipped.

Women tweeting that women's rights should be taken away. That's the problem.

Zohran Mamdani began his campaign day after 2024 election. At the time, he was a state assembly member with almost no name recognition. He went to two precincts that had been historically Democrat but flipped to Trump. One majority Black, one majority white. He held a sign "talk to me about the election". People did. Although on paper economy was good, people in those working class precincts didn't feel good. And didn't feel anyone was paying attention to them. Trump promised to lower prices. Bring back jobs.

Pundits told Democrats to win back working class voters they had to stop talking about social justice, climate change and above all LGBTQ people. Especially T.

Remember famous quote from Clinton advisor, "it's the economy, stupid"?

Mamdani focused on what could be done to make city more affordable. But he did so without abandoning social justice, climate change, LGBTQ community. He just kept pounding away at affordability. When he was baited about trans athletes he talked affordability. When he was falsely accused of anti-semitism because he's Muslim, he talked affordability.

And he went everywhere. Every precinct. Every media. Every podcast. Large events that draw thousands and community meetings that have a dozen participants.

And no matter how much shit thrown at him kept smiling. Spoofed in SNL take on mayoral debate when actor playing him said he will smile until his face hurts.

Virginia new liuetenant governor is first Muslim woman elected statewide anywhere in the country.

Fox, after raging against "identity politics" since forever, called President Obama a hypocrite because he backed a Black woman for president but not for governor of Virginia. Conveniently ignoring the fact that candidate for president was from his party and candidate for governor the opposing party. As well as being a nut case. Winsome Earle-Sears focused her campaign on trans athletes. A large majority of her campaign ads were about trans athletes. Not on top ten concerns of Virginia voters.

More interesting results coming in. St. Paul, Minnesota elected first Hmong and first woman mayor.Minnespolis headed to runoff.

Virginia State legislature went from 51 Democrats out of 100 to 63.

Mississippi Republicans lost super majority in legislature as Democrats flipped several seats.

Hopefully this momentum doesn't stop. But knowing how the D's can fuck up a good thing...

Scott Jennings said on CNN it was a terrible night for Democrats.

Republican congress member said reason Democrats won is everyone else is so happy with Trump they didn't see the need to vote.
Which is why so many races had record voter turnout.

No, but he did announce his transition team headed by Lena Khan. She was FTC commissioner forced out because she was too tough enforcing antitrust laws. In fact all members of transition team are women.

On the other coast, Nancy Pelosi will retire when her current term is up. It's one of the most Democratic districts in the country so race is about which Democrat. Her daughter Christine was considered a possible but she announced run for state Senate. State senator Scott Wiener is front runner although a lot can happen in a year.

Mamdani played Trump like a Stradivarius violin. Republicans planned on holding back midterm losses by pinning "Muslim communist" as face of Democratic party. Now Trump is saying he's going to do a great job. Walked back all his previous jihadist communist terrorist comments as things you say in a campaign. And Mamdani kept his cool through all questions. "Are you the face of the Democrat Party?" "I am the mayor elect of New York City". "Do you still say Trump is a fascist?" "I am focused on making New York affordable."

Honestly, I totally get the view that Mamdani did the bit where whoever kisses Trump's behind is suddenly his best friend. But I think Trump is surrounded by a lot of guys who don't have the juice. Vance skipped the event and has been snarky as hell about Mamdani, and Loomer has been calling him a literal jihadist. It's all very...not persuasive.

I think Trump ended up looking good here by being cordial with Mamdani. In a way, it was a glimpse into a bizarro world where Trump didn't switch parties. And in general, I bet it was a relief to talk to a genuine New Yorker, and not a prick like Andrew Cuomo.

Mamdani embarrassed the old guard Democrats and you can tell Trump gets a kick out of that. It would not surprise me at all if conservatives seething over Trump's affection towards Mamdani is a reoccurring theme throughout his term. I can already hear Mark Levin screeching.
