Part of that is because Boone, in his infinite ineptitude, evidently did not do his homework, This no-name pitcher is noted for a devastating splitter that is especially tough on LHed hitters...so Boone predictably decided that stacking his line up with 6 LHed hitters would be OK...the result?...yup, 7 of the current 10 K's have come from Grisham, Bellinger, Rice, and Wells. (8 ABs)

I can see maybe giving Fried a pass, but the BP has been gasoline all year...that's also on Cashman and his inane pre-season and trade deadline moves...but like you said, the Yanx hitters did not show up. Like I've said over and over during the recent years, on offense, we simply do not have enough "real baseball players".

They should apologize to everyone they criticized for stating the obvious. When they’re bashing homers, the team looks great. When the homers aren’t coming, it’s absolute ineptitude. I’ve never seen a team swing at more bad pitches but take pitches right down the middle.

As you said, the bullpen has been garbage all year. And the starting pitching has totally collapsed here.

And sure enough, a RHed reliever comes in for the Jays and the Yanx get their first 3 hits, all in a row that result in 2 runs, 2 of the hits by "LHed batters Bellinger and Rice."
