anyone ever buy a open box item from newegg? is it usually pretty decent?

I've bought a couple of things and they've always been just fine, but I would never buy anything that might have a high likelihood of needing to be RMAed or serviced under warranty (eg. no CPUs, motherboards, memory or monitor would be worth the risk).

What are you wanting to buy?

Just curious, what do you buy there? Drives? Cards?

I bought an open box mid-tower case, I've also purchased a DVD-R/W and a set of Klipsch speakers and a soundcard this way. No problems with anything. But anything worth more than 200 bucks or something that has a decent likelihood of failure (I like to overclock) like a CPU, memory, video card, or motherboard is probably not a good idea -- remember after all, there's a reason it was returned.

Assuming you live in Portand, here is another option.

The Freegeek thrift store? It's OK if you want something really old or need an emergency backup monitor, but freegeek and newegg's open box stuff aren't in the same category at all.

200 bucks for a monitor trying to get at least 20 inches and a samsung (all my tvs/monitors are samsung and never had a problem with them)

haha thanks I might swoop on one of these! Trying to debate if I really need one ATM

haha i might... how the fuck does this site work... just search with keywords?

Newegg are the only site I purchase from to get hardware or anything computer related. Great service, and good prices. Highly recommended. Tiger Direct are also a great site.
