It doesn't make sense to me.... I get that you lose your athleticism as you age, so the dunks and the quickness and the drives are gone, but why would his shot abandon him so badly? That doesn't make sense to me. His arm strength and mechanics should still be fine.
He is a JUMP shooter though. His shot required elevation.

tearing the achilles THEN your rotator cuff say goodbye to your shot. He has NO lift and cant push his fade-aways to the basket anymore. If you watch all his shots are short, he's not missing left and right which would be mechanics he just cant get the ball there anymore.

Well, it's an inevitability. The dude played forever. He was bound to wear his body out.

There was a good post about it on reddit a few weeks ago.

The TL;DR - Kobe is a traditional 2-motion shooter and the reason he's shooting poorly now is because he's trying to "borrow" another great move to his game: 1-motion shooting (from Curry)

That's fascinating.... I subscribe to Reggie Miller's principle though: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Interesting shot mechanic stuff.

He's cringe-worthy when he shoots! At one point in like mid third quarter he had put up 18, count em 18 shots I couldnt believe it, and he was 6/18 shooting. I know we're all supposed to hate the L*kers but it still is sad to see one of the greats go out like this. No matter your feelings the guy is a top-10 player all-time and what they're doing is just shameful he's hurting the team and his legacy going down this path. I just cant tell if it is Scott's incompetence or Kobe's stubbornness but it is a shame upon the organization the send off they are giving him.

Disagree about top10 all time but he is certainly a hall of famer. It's odd the Lakers gave him that terrible overpaid extension and sell it as good will investment but it seems to be having the opposite effect. The LA media and many Lakers fans are turning on Kobe.

And the rumor that they want to throw crazy money at Calipari.

Its gunna be embarrassing when they get turned down. Calipari could have his pick of NBA jobs he aint picking the KINGS christ theyre nuts over there! If they think they can land him even for one second even if they give him more than phil jackson 10 mil a year money he would go somewhere else for less before he goes to SAC. Why leave Kentucky for the most dysfunctional franchise in the NBA with an over involved owner and a completely lost front office?

He definitely should do it. He might be able to get $15+ million a season so the contract would total $50 million! Kings will get impatient in a year and fire him so he can go back to Kentucky with all that money in the bank.

I disagree he has his pick of NBA jobs; very few college coaches have succeeded in the NBA. Hoiberg and Donovan look bad. Brad Stevens is the only one I can remember doing well with that direct transition in the last 20 years. But Stevens was brought in for a patient rebuilding plan. Calipari already tried the NBA with the Nets and failed.

Interesting topic. I'm not sure the kings are the most dysfunctional, but one could certainly make a case.

Should be fired next: Stotts
Will be fired Next: Karl

It would be a very Kings move to hire Calipari, who already proved he can't coach in the NBA. I assume it would be an attempt to appease Cousins, but that in itself would be a mistake (and I'm sure Cousins is far from Calipari's favorite ex-player).

In my opinion they are underachieving. If they end up anywhere near .500 he should be fired.
I think he should be fired regardless of record, because he's a reprehensible human being.

Batum is looking like a big, big star nowadays. The better his ex-players look this season, the lower will be the league's valuation of Stotts.

I don't think so. George Karl has the Kings playing really well and as a team now. Rondo is a real leader again. If I'm a Kings fan I couldn't be more happy.
