Read that waiters was potentially being bought out, any interest? Could be the punch off the bench.
I love Waiters but he is a mess. Lillard could whip him into shape but Trent has worked very hard for those minutes that Waiters would take.

Good point. IIRC the TPE also counts against team salary, so if they had kept Skal they would have been paying tax on both.

there's no tax applied to a TPE until it's converted to a player. It counts against the cap though until it's renounced

Thanks. I should have looked that up rather than relying on my somewhat porous memory.

Trey Burke
Kyle O’Quinn
Tim Frazier
Tristan Thompson
Derrek Rose

Copy/paste and add as other names come up.

According to David Aldridge, you can cross Tristan Thompson off of your list:

"League source says there will be no buyout for Tristan Thompson in Cleveland, and that he will play out the season with the Cavs before hitting free agency this summer."

Just doesn't make sense at all to me? I just did not see them dumping Skal at this point? Even more so for the limited amount of money saved? Were they just looking for a roster spot? Or will they go back further into the tax to fill that spot again?
It's an absolute mystery to me what is going on at this point?
They probably ask Atlanta if they would take Mario they hung up on Olshey. Olshey call back and then offer Swanigan they hung up the phone. Olshey how about Skals Atlanta say yes if you give cash and Olshey said yes but you 2nd pick Atlanta say yes but will be protected Olshey agree.

we only need a temporary big, so maybe a couple 10 days? Burke seems like the ideal, most realistic, guy though.

True....but Ant needs to expand his PG game even if that isn't going to be his position long term.
Won't happen unless his coach insists on it and shows him how to do it.

Players like Rose and Thompson will go to to contenders or 2nd tier teams like Miami\Boston\Philly.
Why would they come to a tanking\sinking team? it's fucking depressing.

Hard to say, but maybe there is more to his injury than we know and won't be able to play this year and he would be a rfa in the off season.

where did you hear we are tanking? We are also a team soon to get 2 very good players back.

I don’t think any of these teams (in the playoff hunt) need a PG, so Burke....make it happen

Did you watch the Olshey interview? He said no buyout player this year.

Dwight Jaynes said he specifically asked Neil about being in the Buy-Out market and the impression was, they didn't get this close to the Lux Tax level to go spend more. This is the team they are going forward with.

impression? Lol he flat out said they’re done. But at least he was honest..I guess.

He is pretty specific. No not going into the buyout market.

Well then...I do wish Neil would give us something positive; reach a deal for a 3 year extension for Whiteside! $36-42 million?

What Olshey said about Zach is somewhat concerning...

They are just going to be very cautious to prevent any setbacks as next year is more important than a handful of games this year.

Tanking, but not by choice. That's why i wrote tanking\sinking - choose what you'd like.

I'm sorry, but fighting for the 8th spot doesn't sound as appealing as a chance at winning a championship or at least going to the ECF\WCF.

well that dream for this year was a pipe dream after the major injuries we have had. Sometimes you have to accept reality. You think GS is happy about this year. Probably one of their worst off seasons by losing Durant and Iggy and then the injuries to compound it. Sometimes shit happens that you can't control.

I would not put Skal in the very good category and Collins could very well still be back this year as Olshey didn't rule it out.
Skal had become our best bench player when he went down. It was a tough loss when we starting to click. We were about to see him battle AD and then he got hurt.
