This is my question. Everyone throwing insults at Jerami Grant so Who's it gonna be? They need someone.
All right ... I'll do it.

This is actually a good topic for an offseason thread. What players might suddenly become available after their seasons end? We know about Grant. We can add Randle as well to that list. A few FA's also could be looking at other destinations. But here are some others who I think might surface in discussions to change teams if their current teams flameout:i still think Butler can be had if Miami struggles in playoffs
He can have a huge effect on games when he gets going. I just am shy about his injuries? Doesn't seem to stay on the court.I am NOT a Nassir Little fan.
Personally, I really don't get the hype at all.
6pts 6rebs just doesn't rock my world.
I would package him with the picks to try to get a Bobby Portis type guy.
And FWIW, I disagree with you on Eubanks. I think there's something there.

It's not unfathomable to have a relatively quick rebuild if we retain the right pieces and make the right moves after bottoming out.The team will almost certainly be better next year than it is now, but... I think this current team might be the worst NBA team in a decade.
Selfishly, I don't want to see the team go for it next year. I think we're too far away, and we'll be mired in mediocrity rather than giving the franchise a chance to build properly for the future.
I understand, though, that tickets need to be sold and not everyone has my long-term patience, so I unfortunately suspect we'll apply some bandaids to the roster, give up some valuable assets, and get knocked out of the first round in the playoffs after having no real chance to advance.

Then what you are doing is trading Nassir Little and throwing in a pick. Now do you think you will get a "Very Good" 4/3 Veteran? If we trade one our picks to acquire a very good front line 4/3 veteran, we may have to attached a guy like Naz?
It takes two teams wanting to deal and sure maybe no one is interested in the picks. Salaries are a challenge too with trades. Besides Dame we do have assets to reconfigure the roster but if a team is going to move form a legit "very good/star" 4/3 it will take a combination of assets of which we do have now. Then what you are doing is trading Nassir Little and throwing in a pick. Picks only have the value of "Hope" and "Faith". The actual player who has played at the NBA level is what you can gauge. Seriously i am in the middle of conversations on Twitter with dudes telling me because So and So has a wing span of 7 feet and a standing reach of 8 foot whatever this guy is going to be a great NBA player? Teams that think like this stay in the lottery.

Like denver did 2014. Pick in the 40's right out of the Green Room. Who was the last MVP picked in the 40's?Sounds like someone we should take at #37

lol....there has never been an mvp that was selected in the 20's or 30's. Isnt his cousin in this draft? That is exactly who I had in mind.

I would try to sign Jalen Smith, he's breaking out for Indy after trade from Suns and is a UFA and all Indy can offer is 4.75 mil, can play small ball C or PF
phoenix suns are the sameI can see the Blazers making a run Bucks style. Milwaukee proved you don't have to have a bunch of stars, just one really good one and (the right mix of) a bunch of really good role players.
When you say really good role players you're including Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton. Right now (and I know there's a lot of time between now and the beginning of the season) the only role player that we have that's even possibly close to the level of those guys is Ant and his breakout that makes him close to those guys happened playing the same role as our superstar. So, to me a lot of moves have to be made... a move into the top three in the draft and/or trade(s) that get us a couple role players on that Jrue/Khris level.I can see the Blazers making a run Bucks style. Milwaukee has a great two way player that has been a league MVP. That is typical of what you need to get a championship.I can see the Blazers making a run Bucks style. this ain’t happening, but…
Depending on how the Jazz do in the playoffs, I could see them blowing it up since it’s heavily reported that Donovan wants out and Gobert is such a tough big to build around. If the Blazers got a top three I could see that pick as a centerpiece with along with Nurk and ingles for Gobert. Not sure how to fill in the rest but I think Grant would be great next to Gobert. I think that would be killer next to Lillard, Simons from the outside and filling in with Hart, Winslow , little Keon, Trendon and the rest.
We have Dame and want to win. How do we put a title-contending team around Dame? I don’t see a clear answer but if there is a way it’s by covering for Dames weaknesses and letting Dame shine at what he is incredible at doing. Forget position and if Gobert is being overpaid for a second, does Gobert make sense to actually build around with Dame in the immediate? Gobert is one of the absolute best defenders in the league, a great rebounder and can is adequate on offense from the inside if not being relied upon to be THE scorer. He would be amazing with Billups, and allow Dame and Simons to funnel the opposition instead of having to actually defend them, which they can’t. On top of that, the Blazers can afford it now. They no longer have CJ or other crap contracts, they have some tradable assets and Gobert is the very rare excellent player who is achievable. He would also work well alongside Grant whose biggest weakness is shit rebounding, alongside Simons who is one of the best shooters in the league and of course Dame. Our options are limited, especially if you want to contend in the next 3 years. Overpaying for Gobert at least is overpaying for someone who is very good and would fit extremely well.I hope to hell NOT
unless it's Jokic, I'd never pay a C what Gobert if making:

that's fucking ridiculous...paying him 42M/year over the next 4 years. I don't care how many DPOY he wins, he's not worth that
