http://www.easports.com/nflheadcoach/index.jspThis new game by EA Sports. You play the role of the head coach. Looks pretty good.

Doesn't every game have this in the franchise part? Seems kinda boring to me, I've never really liked the coaching aspect of sports.

I've played the demo. For the past 3 or 4 days ago, I found myself debating wether I should get this game or Madden 07. I didn't wanna find myself ending up playing the same old gameplay in Madden like in 06 and beating it over and over in All-madden mode, so I'm gonna buy NFL Head Coach.NFL Head Coach demo...http://www.worthdownloading.com/download.p...id=1618&id=7805After you install it and says that it can't find a certain file, download this....http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?d3dx9_27

I don't know too much about football but if I was a hardcore football fan, I'd buy it.Now if it was NBA Head Coach... that's a totally different story.

Sounds boring, I like playing games...And it's EASports so it will be a dissapointment like all of their games. :dunno:

I'm gonna buy this game tommorow, so I'll let you guys know how it is.

I read those interviews and it sounds good. I might have to check it out.

I've known about this for quite a while and I would rather play than coach.

Isnt it like all other football games, except you can't play the games. in all other games you can draft players, sign free agents, and make trades. Plus you can call which plays you want to run in the huddle, i dont see the point of buying this when you can buy an actual footbal game and do all this, plus play the actual football games.

Yeah, this game sounds really boring, so all you do is just write up plays for your team and stuff? Not that exciting if you ask me.

Read the interview. In NFL Head Coach, the guy with the best football strategy wins, in Madden, the guy with the best thumbs win. I've already mastered Madden in all-madden mode and it just gets boring for me now. In NFL Head Coach, you really can't predict the outcome.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Strauser: Football is a very strategic game -- there's a clear start and stop point where you can call new plays. The way we represent that in the game is the game plan and the playbook. You're preparing that, choosing which plays you practice, which plays you bring to the game, which plays get called. But then you also deal with real time strategy and motivation with your team as the game is going on. The big change for NFL Head Coach is that the game is always running. If you choose to make subs or talk to players on sidelines and strategize, the game's happening in the background. You can actually turn your back on the game and miss a touchdown, either for or against your team. The coordinators will take over playcalling for you, but you realize how much coaches do on the sideline and in how many directions their attentions are being pulled. There's a lot going on on the sideline, a lot that I had never considered before.</div>Madden gameplay is the same every year and it's gonna get boring after a while, when I master the whole new running technique. And also, http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/sports/nflheadcoach/media.htmlWatch the NFL Head Coach Official Movie 4 for the breakdown of the game.

This actually looks like a really sweet game. I've heard of it for a while. But i'm not sure if i should get any more games for my PS2, because i'm planning on getting a WII eventually.

They'd have to really give a crash course on NBA coaching though, the plays in football are more well-known.I want to get this right now. I love second-guessing head coaches.

Well, if you're gonna do career mode, you're going to have be devoted to it to go far.

The way I see it your paying $40 to by the franchise mode on madden w/ probably a few extra features. IMO its probably a waste of money.

I'll give my input in it. If you're an nfl junkie who doesn't go out much or just looking for a challenge in football games (I've spent 44 hours in this game, but haven't played it lately for the past 2 weeks), other than crushing the computer in Madden by 40 points in all-madden mode every game, this is a game for you. You're going to need a lot of time and dedication to this game, if you're going to want a successful career. You play out every single damn day after the super bowl, interviewing for new jobs, interviewing coaches for their spots, meeting with the owner and getting ready for the draft will probably take an hour away from you. Because I played with the Skins, I wasn't looking forward to the draft, so I didn't really care much for drafting the right guy. Also, if you tend to simulate a lot, it will cause a lot of glitches, such as 0-0 ties, or freezes. Here's a short summary I found over at gamespot, which will help solve your problem.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>After week one of the regular season I went to NFL.com to view to stats for the week to see if I was in the top 8 for rushing yards against. When I sorted the teams by rushing / passing yards against, I noticed something suspicious: Two teams had 0 passing and 0 rushing yards against, but they had something around 380 yards against. I don't know how 0 + 0 = 380.As I poked around some more, I looked at the schedule section and noticed that the game between the Bills and the Patriots didn't have a score, but should have been played 3 days earlier. I go to view the boxscore, and it said "This game has yet been played". I went back and looked at the stats, and as expected, the Bills and the Patriots were the teams with 0 passing and rushing yards against. Looking back at the pre-season schedule, I noticed that the Bills never played a pre-season game either.Something was causing the computer to not simulate any of the Bills games. When week two would roll around, 0-0 scores would show up. This is probably the game's way of saying, "Hey, something is wrong here."I restarted my career again. This time I did not simulate a single task. I played through everything. I made a game save during training camp and right before the regular season.....I believed that it was the large periods of simulation that caused the games to not play, as I had never played pre-season or all of training camp up to this point. I my career with no simulation, the Bills did not play their first pre-season game and the 0-0 glitch returned in week 2 of the regular season. This clearly ruled out the simulation as the cause of the glitch.I did, however, stumble across something that was again suspicious. When I looked at the Bills team, some how they had 56/55 players on their roster. I reloaded my game and traded 2 of their players for one of mine to get them down to the maximum of 55 players. I then simulated through the first week of pre-season.As it turns out, the Bills game in fact DID PLAY. I then simulated through week 2 of the regular season, and every game had a score.</div>The glitches do suck, but I've never encountered them besides freezing 2 times. The game will get boring, if you're not dedicated it into somewhat. The office hours are useless and I don't like the fact that I need to schedule time to sign free agents and trade players, when there's a computer and a phone right in front of me during office hours. I think that office hours mean trading players, signing free agents, coaches and all that for next year's game. The draft prep and offseason is terribly too long thoughThe practices are really helpful coming into the next games, getting players prepared and setting money plays, but it shouldn't take 4 hours to run 10 damn plays. They should try to add more slots in for more practices, to get the players even more prepared. When it comes to having weekly meetings with your coordinators/coaches, they can really come in hand at times when you're not paying attention during practice. For example, the DL coordinator will give you a heads you that they might not be ready for the next game. In that case, you could tell him that he'll just have to run with it and you'll have a small trust drop from him, or you can tell him to stay up late at night and do some more work with them in that case you'll have a bigger trust drop, but more knowledge gained. You do wanna keep them happy because if their trust drop gets 0, they'll walk out of the franchise like I had Al Saunders do to me. On the other hand, the WR coach may tell you that they'll be on playing on their best for the next game and so forth. One thing I haven't come across was the players' morale. Coaches in the NFL have to deal with players wanting more playing time and so forth, but I haven't come across that like I did in Madden '06. But for player motivation, I've really found that to become random. Like, Brunell, he'll throw a 50 yard TD and when I give him a compliment, he takes it as a negative. Those who played the game, will know what I'm talking about. As for playing the game can be a real puzzle, trying to find what works in that 1st quarter. Some people complain about the 5 minute quarters, but I think it's just fine because I'm able to get realistic numbers of plays and get realistic stat numbers each game I play. The only negative thing about it is that, there's no really a 2 minute strategy game here. You can just run off the clock in the 4th quarter with 1 possession. Another thing they should've added was a pre-game meeting with the team or a halftime talk/adjustments, so you can have more time strategizing with certain players and groups. As for the actual gameplay, the players aren't the smartest. Mark Brunell manages to throw at least 1 interception, each game....3 when I played preseason, it's something you need to keep an eye of, for presnap adjustments, so you'll want him to throw to a specific player or area, or tell him what to do in some situations like when they blitz or whatever. You can do the same with every group of players when they're on the sideline, for the WR's you can tell them where to run, how much seperation you want, or for the RB's you can tell them to let the OL make a hole for you, or try to bust your way through or around the OL, that's a key aspect to the game.Anyway, if you're wondering to get this game, but don't want to fork over 40 bucks, I suggest you rent it for yourself.--------------------------------Well, currently, I'm 9-2 with the Redskins, with my losses being against the Texans (26-3 ) and the Colts 38-37. For those wanting to know what happen, I was up 37-24 entering the 4th quarter and I punted early. The Colts got a quick TD, so next drive I tried milking the clock, but I was forced to punt around the 2:10 mark. Later, Peyton Manning throws a 45 yard TD with about :50 left and with 2 TO's left, I got worried. I managed to get to their 43 yard line with using my last timeout on 4th down, 3 yards to go with 10 seconds left. I throw one of the middle to Chris Cooley at the 27, he didn't catch it, but some DB got called for a Pass interference, so it gave John Hall a chance for a 44 yarder to win the game, but it missed about a few inches to the left...I lost. :angryfire Well, I hope you guys enjoyed my review.
