Hey at least I am not alone with my belief that Bo Jackson was the best!

Bo? Seriously?
Adrian Peterson in just his last 2 seasons has more rushing yards than Bo's career. More TDs. More catches last season than Bo had in his career. More receving yards the past two years than Bo had in his career.

Seriously

I saw Bo play. I saw Jim Brown, too. Brown was very fast and bigger than guys he played against. Bo was big, too, but not atypical of a FB or HB. He had speed that I can only describe as "don't blink or you'll miss how he ended up in the end zone." He was incredibly strong, too.

Walter Payton was the best FOOTBALL PLAYER, period. The guy rushed for 2nd most yards for his career among them all, he was regarded as an elite blocker for a RB, he was the team's backup punter, and he was 3rd string QB. When he retired, he could have put on 20 pounds and played another 5 years as an elite FB.

Steve Young gets my vote for best QB. The guy threw for 4000 yards twice and 3000 in 4 others (almost 4000 one of those). He also rushed for over 500 yards one season, and 400+ four other times. He had a great and accurate downfield arm.

Jim Kelly deserves a mention - he guided his team to the SuperBowl 4 straight years, though they lost all 4 times. Troy Aikman, too - his teams simply won as they should have, no need to come from behind.

DE - Bruce Smith.

TE - Dave Casper.

LB - Lawrence Taylor

WR - Jerry Rice

Safety - Paul Krause or Lott.

CB - Deion Sanders

Best player I've ever seen run the ball (although Barry Sanders gets a nod for most "electryfying"). Pity his career was cut short with that hip.

4.1 speed and power that could knock anyone over.

I was mistaken...

He is a cornerback (1981-85), safety (1985-90) and free safety (1990) in San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco, CA.

Lott was a safety. Not sure where you got your info. Erick Wright and Dwight Hicks were the 49ers corners way back then. Carlton Williamson and Ronnie Lott were the safeties.

Bo Jackson is the only player jersey I have ever owned for any sport. My favorite player in any sport of all time. Chills watching Bo play back in the day. I still wear it to Raider games and even on Raider games while I'm watching on TV.

That said, he didn't play enough to be the "greatest ever", IMO. Walter Payton was just a sick, sick man at RB.

Jim Brown is the greatest to ever play the game of football. No question.

Interesting how many different legitimate answers you can get to questions like this in football. Makes Jerry Rice that much more impressive that he is the unanimous top guy at his position.

Rice was amazing. He didn't have the freaky athletic ability of a Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss, but he had the best preparation, work ethic, dedication, and focus of any athlete ever.
