Interesting how many different legitimate answers you can get to questions like this in football. Makes Jerry Rice that much more impressive that he is the unanimous top guy at his position.

and the general consenus that the players on the mid-late 80's 49ner team had some of the best at their position.

It's been really great reading everyone's different opinions about who was the best.

I'm definitely biased towards Niners like Steve Young, Jerry Rice, etc.

Dion was amazing. I really liked Barry Sanders and Terrell Davis. I think if Davis had stayed healthy he might have gone down as the best RB of all time. The guy was amazing. This would be my all-time favorite list to watch.

Best running back - Davis/Sanders

Best Quarterback - Steve Young/Vick (when he was young)/Elway

Best Wide Receiver - Rice/Randy Moss (when he was young)

Best TE/FB - Shannon Sharp/Mike Alstott was amazing when he was healthy

Best Cornerback/Safety - Dion/Champ Bailey/Woodson/Green/I was a huge Merton Hanks fan

Best Linebacker - Ken Norton Jr/Patrick Willis :)

Best Defensive Lineman - Reggie White/Strahan

Best Offensive Lineman - Can't think of any off the top of my head

Randy Moss declared himself the greatest WR ever at Super Bowl media day. Jerry Rice's response? "Put my numbers up against his numbers."

I agree with your list, Sinobas. And I actually watched these players play football.

Rice was amazing. He didn't have the freaky athletic ability of a Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss, but he had the best preparation, work ethic, dedication, and focus of any athlete ever.

You forgot hands. That's one of the things they always talked about. And they really started talking about it in 1998 or so, as his hands started slowly fading, and he started dropping balls.

Cris Carter had better hands

Cris Carter got mad at Cowherd this morning for saying that Steve Largent had the best hands ever. It was mildly amusing, because you could tell that the offense was genuine.

Bo? Seriously?
Adrian Peterson in just his last 2 seasons has more rushing yards than Bo's career. More TDs. More catches last season than Bo had in his career. More receving yards the past two years than Bo had in his career.

Also, Adrian destroyed his knee in the middle of those two seasons.

I'm amazed that Tony Gonzalez isnt the #1 TE on everyones list. IMO, it's the only position in the NFL where there is an obvious #1.
