What else is new. Yet, the NHL wonders why the consistent suck in their ratings.

How did the NHL cheat? I mean I hate Pitt, but it was the right call by the rule. Can't complain about that IMO. The rule is the rule and it was the right call based on the rule.

It's all good. They play the Pens tougher than any team in the league. I would to meet up with these phony fools again the playoffs. Somebody just needs to have enough guys to layout Crosby or Malkin once and for all.

Spare me. Start with the fact the idiot refs closed to their eyes to 5 blatent hooks by the Penguins in the 3rd period. I'm going to love every second when Crosby gets that final hit that scrambles his brains with that final concussion and ends his career. That will teach the NHL for fixing the lottery to save that sorry ass organization.

I can't stand them either but this is not the time you worry about getting even. It's just a November 15th game. After what the Rangers did in the playoffs this is a long season with more match-ups to come.

Maybe they end up amending the rule to make it the refs judgement.

Rangers got 3 of a possible 4 points against Pitt this week...that is very good. The Pens have won 8 straight against the rest of the NHL. I will take these 3 points and feel good about it. Now just need to keep the level up against TB and Philly this week. No more eggs like the Oiler and Avs games.

The Rangers just need to string some wins together now.

Boy oh boy, Dan Girardi is one tough dude. AV has stated that he doesn't think there's a place in todays game for a player like Mcilrath. After seeing one of his top d-men get laid out like that, I hope it makes him at least to think about it. You don't want a goon on the team, but you certainly want to other teams to know they can't take liberties on your team. And for you Kriedertime, to root for any player to have his brains scrambled is sad. Please self-deport from this board.

Not for nothing but it was a clean hit on girardi, mcilrath wouldn't have done anything

Coming from a poster nobody here knows or cares about.

Crosby is bad for the sport. When one of the best player in the sport cries constantly every game to the refs and throws constant cheap shots in the playoffs when his team is losing, nobody should cry if he takes a hit and becomes a jello head. If wanting a player to take a huge hit who is a crybaby offends you, perhaps you should take up basket weaving. It fits your personality better.

What I want to know is how vs. the Penguins the first time those corrupt, worthless idiots in Toronto made up a bunch of nonsense not to allow the Hayes goal that never happened. Their reason was pathetic. The puck was in the net before the ref even thought about blowing the whistle and Hayes never made any contact with the goalie.

the hit on girardi was clean,. girardi is an all-star d-man playing for us. I can assure you most teams if not all would have more of a response if one of there players was steamrolled like that. girardi was at the end of a long shift and malkin just stepped over the boards and blasted him. That hit calls for a response. Maybe not at that time but certainly going forward. we will see. back in the day, teams like the 70 Canadiens and flyers, the 80's oilers and islanders. bruins of recent years, would have meted out justice right there. these teams have won about 20 cups in those 40 years. I watched them all. Hey kreidertime, I told you to self-deport

McIlbust can't be called up just to do that..he needs to actually resemble an NHL defenseman.

I have said this on another thread and no one responded. I think they should try McIlrath on the wing. Let him learn the position with the pack. If he can figure it out, he could be an x-factor come playoffs. If not, we are no worse off because he is not going to play defense for the Rangers. If he's in the box 15 mins a game, it's no big deal as a winger protecting our guys. I'd take that trade off.

Until he can figure out the AHL..........and he finding it tough as it is....
he is not NHL ready. His skating ability is very weak, even for a stay-at-home-D.
A winger should have the skill to skate. That's is not McIlrath's strength.
He needs to stay in Hartford or trade the dude.

I didn't say he was NHL ready. I said move him to wing now in the AHL and let him learn. It has already been established he will not play D. with AV as coach. So teach him the wing pos. and if he gets it bring him up as the enforcer and get rid of Glass for the playoffs.

Beukeboom doesn't think McIlrath is a bust but luckily we have posters on this board with superior hockey IQs that know much more about the game than good old #23. McIlrath's problem is AV doesn't like him or see the need for his style of play so teams will continue to take runs at Hank and others while cruising toward the goal fearlessly. Same for Miller, doesn't matter how well he plays AV is going to focus on one mistake and use that as justification to send him down. McIlrath doesn't need to be up here to fight every game, that's what Glass is here for, his job would be taking the body/clearing the crease.

I will continue to say what I have been saying about McIlrath. No way we can call him a bust at this point, he hasn't shown enough good or bad to be labeled as such yet. But I do think he needs to become a better skater to really have a solid role in the NHL and I also think he needs to learn to stay of the box otherwise it limits his usefulness. To have 1 of your 6 dmen in the box for major minutes every game isn't good.

But I cannot call him a bust now...not sure how anyone can yet. He hasn't done enough to be called a bust yet.

Panz. I am not calling Mc. a bust or dare to say I know more than Beuk. What I am saying is AV does not like Mc on Defense. And as Chuck said, you can't have 1 of 6 dmen in the box all the time. Glass is useless. An absolute waste of space. A hit like Girardi took would not happen if we had a true enforcer. Or even all the slashing or cross checking our guys take. Other teams need to know it will not be tolerated any longer. And if Mc can be moved to learn the wing in the AHL and give us 8 to 10 mins at the end of the year and have the other team having 2nd thoughts abt cheap shots, Id be willing to try it.

so lets recap...Danny G gets blasted with a clean hit...you really think Malkin is going to think twice of making that hit against one of the Rangers top D men because Dylan M is on the squad? Please...

ok...so lets say it was someone else, he still is going to make that hit on Danny G, knocking him out of the game, and yea we want Dylan to go make a run at him...two things

1. Catch me if you can....which is very apparent he is not NHL ready with the speed of the game
2. Win for the opponent if you knock out Girardi and get Dylan off the ice for 5 to 7 minutes leaving the rangers down to 4 d men for up to 7 minutes perhaps.

it's not about the immediate result of taking penalties, being scored upon etc., it's a mind set. when a team has a true enforcer on the team, thier opponents mind set changes. Malkin's mind set is he does not fear any retribution from his opponent at that moment, so he goes for it. Michael Sauer's career was ended on a similar hit from Phanuef. Girardi career could have ended on a hit like that too. Thank god he's fine, but a response is still necessary. What do you think Clark Gillies or Nystrom would have done if Potvin or Bossy had received a hit like Girardi did?

A lot I disagree with here but none more than calling Girardi an All Star d-man. The guy is so overrated by this franchise and fan base it's scary. He's a skating unforced turnover. That said, you still have to stick up for your teammates, clean hit or not.

I'm really glad Girardi is ok, but yup, that contract is going to be a big cap issue in another year or two.

You Girardi guys are funny. Girardi is a very good dman. Well worth the money he makes right now.

If you tell me on the back end for maybe 2 years he'll be overpaid...I am sure he will be...but that's the case with almost all UFA's. They get paid a lot of money for too many years. That's the reality of business in sports.

I can only focus on what I know. And what I know is Girardi is a very good dman, who plays major minutes against the other teams best players, and is a legit 1st pair dman. He is worth the money now I believe. I'll worry about 3 years from now...3 years from now. I think he is much more worth the money than Staal will be, and Staal may want even more than what Girardi is making.

And Girardi is a warrior and leader who has played 80 or more games for 7 straight seasons (counting 46 of 48 in the lockout season)...things that need to be said in his favor as well.

Danny G is definitely a top line dman, even a....cough...allstar..
the thought of what bobby Nystrom or gillies would have done is so off base as this is a different game then back in the 70's and 80's where bench clearning brawls were the norm.

how many goons are on the pens? they have two of the greatest players in today' game...their goon was stupid cooke

Girardi is just one of those guys that when his play drops its going to be very sharp. Its already becoming noticeable but its not really his fault, he's just taken alot of physical wear and tear going back to the JT era.

Al, its not about bench clearing brawls. Its about having someone in our lineup that the other team knows if they cheap shot one of our guys they will pay for it. We have no one like that and our guys get slashed in the back of the knee caps and cross checked constantly. Crosby and Malkin are 2 of the dirtiest players in the game and get away with it. If the Refs are going to allow them to cheap shot then we have to take care of it ourselves. Do you really think the rest of the league wont take notice if McIlrath defends a cheap shot of one of our guys by beating Crosby or Malkin to a pulp. I bet they will. All he needs to do is do it once. The rest of the league will take notice
