...nic pic of Pablo Sandoval;

The giants had big issues with panda a few different times, even going so far as calling him out publically repeatedly for his conditioning. If you remember, he was benched for the postseason in 2010, they never really treated him with kid gloves. Also why they never extended him, there was a thought that as soon as he got big money, he would stop working out. Guess we will see.

...the Giants offered Sandoval essentially the same contract the Red Sox signed him for...IMO, he'll eventually regret not staying in SF.

"LOL, guess we will see?".....?

I think we've already seen Sandovals, lack of Self-Discipline at the breakfast/lunch & Dinner Table. It's this type of unbridled lack of self-discipline, that made Lombardi a Iconic Epic Giant, for those with no self-control.....he'd put his boots up a players ass, if they dared to show up looking like the Pig, I mean Bear Sandoval is....~~!!

Great players rarely if ever, need Disciplined on or off the fields, or on their own time. Obviously Panda does have Panda Bear DNA. Not sure if it were his Mom, or Dad, that climbed in the cage at the Frisco Zoo. Shit it may of been both of his parents.....!

I expect literally NOT ONE good thing for the Bosox by signing the tub of lard, I don't see Hanley turing himself around either. Both have poor discipline in many areas, on or off the field.

If Carl Crawford, and Adrian Gonzalez could not capitalize on the Green Monster or Short Porch, I really doubt either Panda or Hanley can hit a buck 50....!

The best thing to happen to both Carl and Adrian was to get the Hell out of Bean Town....!
The worst thing to happen in both Panda's and Ramirez's careers will be to play in Boston....!

Panda was the heart of a very successful giants team, and a playoff performer. A huge jovial personality, so I think he steps into big papis shoes pretty nicely in that regard, all his teammates loved him.

He's always had a problem with his conditioning, but it hasn't necessarily hampered his production much much...to a point, if he has gained weight and continues to do so, it could be rough going

Yeah like the Giants won 88 games last year with basically one pitcher. And less offense then the Red Sox have this season. anything can happen.

Redsox were 26th in MLB team ERA last year and
24th in BAA.

How many pitchers did THEY have? lol

Are you sure he was the "heart" of that Team? I'd say Panda was more the big gut or oversized buttocks, gluteus maximus of the 015 Giants. He will be even more of the non-face of the Bosox this year, if he remains this far out of shape, then he too will continue to be the butt of all jokes, and/or busted double plays, and other balls hit in the Thunder Alley Holes.....!

As always my point went right over your head.

No it didn't, you're assuming their "improved" offense with the additions of Hanley and Pablo will help overcome any pitching shortcomings they may have......
....but of course this doesn't apply for any bounce back performances by a couple of Yankee hitters.

Did I get it right?
Dam right I did....lmao!

Well now Rick, put yourself in his shoes. He's upbeat and feels good about the team and we've all been brutally honest. To him its pessimism, and to us its embracing reality given the track record since '10.

I really wish there was something to hold onto, but seeing McCarthy, Robertson, Solarte, Prado, Cervelli, McCarthy and Greene one, not to mention Jeter and Ichiro (and Cano)....I just have no real feel for this team at this point. And Ron and I are the guys preaching it ain't over til its over even when down 9 in the first.

I don't know what's wrong with you but I'm guessing that you got beat up a lot as a kid.

...and sadly he can't understand why he is treated like a message board pinata.

With all due respect to future hof-ers jeter and ichiro, they were big reasons why the Yanks had such poor overall numbers from those two positions and I think its fair to expect Headley to be a considerable upgrade at 3b offensively AND defensively from day ONE.

Glad we cleared up three areas regarding last year now maybe some wiser "fans" can take a look at last year's production from 1B and DH and explain why they think the Yanks can't or won't improve in 2015 on those 2014 "numbers" with a couple of modest new additions to those equations.

I happen to kinda believe some of the others who think its unreasonable to expect improvement from 1b,DH ect....are .......drunk?
lol !

Uhhh, Ichiro was actually the reason why production from RF was as good as it was last year...(he batted .284 as a RFer) ...RF team average was .253

...same with Jeter.... he batted .256 ....SS team average was .233

Yanks 2014:
Ichiro RF - .664 ops, 61 pts below lg avg.
Yanks total RF ops 2014 - 642, 14th in lg.
Yanks 2014 DH ops - .662, 13th in lg.
Yanks 2014 1B ops - 687, 13th in lg.
Yanks 2014 SS ops - .579, 14th in lg.

Since I've heard my share of ridicule....
Here's MY question:
How many of you shmuks (lol) either do NOT expect considerably better numbers from at least a couple of those positions in 2015, remain about the same....or very little difference?

Okay, NOW I rest my case.
Thank you very much.

I doubt that.

...and there you have it, folks...yet more statistical gymnastics. This is exactly why children should not be allowed to play on the internet.

...now you only want to point to OPS ?...why am I not surprised?
... the team OPS at SS was dragged down by Ryan (.413) and others...Jeter had an OPS of .617
...Headley?....700 OPS last year (I suppose you think that's good for a 3Bman?)...3B eam OPS was .726 (I noticed you didn't post that)...yeah, huge upgrade. Can you explain this?
...and Gregorius ?...again, yeah, huge upgrade.

...and how many of us "schmucks" (not sure what a "shmuk" is) have said they are not hoping for a better year from some of the players?..answer?...no one, but you already knew that, right?

...the problem is that you seem to see only improvement from last year and that everyone will remain healthy and you also assume the pitching staff will somehow be as good if not better and will somehow also remain healthy. Again, as far as I know, you're the only one who is predicting "90+ wins" this year...but everyone else on the planet is somehow wrong?....can you explain this?

...every time you post you dig the hole deeper and deeper.

Here's your Ichiro - .284 BA, 33 pts below his career avg, one HR, 22 RBI.
Smarten up.
And I have specifically said Headley's TOTAL package of offense AND defense will be an upgrade at 3b, IMO, from last year over the course of the whole 2015 season.
I don't need to play word games....and YOU seem to be putting BA over other areas such as OPS - hey, that's your choice, good for you.
Jeter's .617 OPS (your number), would be good for 14th place amount regular shortstops. And his defense was limited to say the least.
Wake up! And how about showing some nerve and address my post #54.
Care to answer any of the questions I posed?
Of course not.....you're too busy playing it safe.

Some wave "pom poms"..... And others wave the white flag before the season begins.
Funny clowns....lol

...I posted BAs...you then decided to interject OPS...now you're again reverting back to BA and comparing it to career numbers in order to ridicule Ichiro?

...please just stop with your incessant self-mutilation...it's painful to watch.

Jeter and Ichiro were borderline terrible last year which, highlighting their averages as bright spots, shows you just how bad the team was last season. Jeter being penciled in at the top of the lineup every day was a great disservice.
