Personally I can't deal with another season of tanking.

Blazers tanked in the 2nd half of last season and that has been the least interested I have been in basketball in a long time. Except for the games I went to, I don't think I sat through a whole game on TV. It was painful to watch and I hope the Blazers don't go through another season of that.

I get that Miami is not a large market, and knew someone would bring them up right away. I guess by small market, I mean undesirable locations. Most all small market teams are undesirable locations for players able to choose, while most large market teams are desirable

Agreed. First Time in Many years I did not attend a single game at the RG. If that's not an indication of how important this upcoming season is, I don't know what is.

I know what you mean. I read these rational arguments for tanking, but emotionally I'm tired.

It's as if I've been on a diet for too long and I'm psyching up for yet another day of 1 cup of vegetables every 2 hours, till I again lay my weary head on my pillow where I can escape my travails.

Okay, back to the microwave. Where's the broccoli. (sigh)

Wait. So the guy who thinks LMA isn't worth much, and who wants Nate fired for years, now is already getting upset at the thought of tanking?

Can't you just admit that you're the uber-troll. It's passive-aggressive, and I appreciate it, but you rarely make sense, and now after advocating a rebuild, you're already saying you're over it?

You're a troll. On MIXUM's level, IMO. I can't think of the last time you actually had a legitimate post about anything.

I think the one other route the author mentioned, but I think undervalued, is trading for expiring contracts as a fallback position, if it's looking like the Blazers won't be able to get the players they want this summer.

The Blazers could look at making a lop-sided trade (using cap space for one year) to take on possibly multiple players, including one with a deal that expires after the 2012-13 season. Some teams like to hold onto those contracts - but some teams may want to save money now (rather than wait a year), or may want to quickly free up cap space to nab a current free agent. I just think that by accepting an expiring contract, the Blazers could put themselves in a position for next summer, without fielding a laughable roster.

He's a lot funnier and more harmless than MIXUM. He doesn't antagonize people, he just makes ridiculous posts that are occasionally funny. I think it's best to leave him be, and it's pretty easy to do so. He doesn't say anything inflammatory.

Fair enough, although I don't agree with all of your opinion on him.

I've just been reading the same whimsical, capricious, and/or nonsensical bullshit for over 10 years between this board and another board, and at some point, don't you have to at least be semi-serious in your Blazer opinions on a Blazer board?

Yeah I've only had to read his comments for two years, and most of the time I see his avatar and just skip over his posts. If his post gets quoted I read it then.

If Hibbert falls through, I think we should just let Batum walk and tank for next summer.

I don't agree. Next year's free agent crop isn't very attractive. Aside from the top level players, which would cost even more than Hibbert and we might not have the cap room for, it's pretty weak. At least no one available as attractive as Batum.

If we sign him, we still have some 7 million or so to work with going into next year. Could still be enough to bring in those 2nd level guys.

This article says Batum on the roster, but he is not going to be around. And I thought we dumped Shawne Williams??

I am no professional, but isn't this common knowledge?!

Welcome, OldSchool! Professionalism not needed here (as you'll quickly see).

We haven't dumped Williams yet. He's never been in uniform, but unlike Okur, we have some options with HOW we dump him. Stretch provision, buyout, trade, etc.

They're waiting to see what the best option will be. Don't worry, he's not going to have a roster spot in November.

9 1/2 years. At your age, time flies. Anyway, no one is putting a gun to your head to read it.

Imaginary shooter
