Nick Young or Sean Williams

I remember Thorn saying that when Wizards drafted Young at 16 it took the pressure off the Nets management and they went with Sean. Interesting, if both Sean and Nick available @ 17 who would you go with now?

P.S. I'm really impressed with Young after tonight's game. The guy is a lethal shooter.

I choose Williams here. Young is a nice scorer, but it seems he bring nothing else to the game. Reminds me of J.R Smith kinda.

easy, sean. young is nice, but its not every day you get a legit defensive minded big who can block shots, finish strong, run the break, have crazy hops and has shown a nice touch at the line and some nice offensive moves. you can find another nick young on the market (sadly we havent gotten one outside of house), you won't be finding a sean williams on the market.

to me, it's hard to choose, as they both offer what Nets sorely need : shot blocking and shooting. maybe it's good that Wizards have made our choice easier.

If I was the Nets then Sean would be my pick. The Nets needed a big man who could block shots on the defensive end, and for obvious reasons Nick Young doesn't fit that profile.


Even if you take away what Williams is doing right now, it's common sense to pick him over Young. For other teams however, Nick Young might have been the better choice.

I think I remember reading somewhere that if Williams had not gotten into trouble, he would probably have been a lottery pick. Nick Young is a great young player, but I don't ever envision him becoming a star in the league. He could become a border-line allstar, but Sean Williams can become much more. He is extremely young and has already proven that he can become a game changer. I was really impressed with him when I saw him play against us earlier on in the season. If he can keep his head straight, he can become a special player in the league.

But Sean Williams has to work on his game. If it wasn't for his athelticism opposing players would be scoring in bunches, since he can't seem to stay in front of them.

And as for his offense, there isn't much to be fond of. His points coming from good passes, and rarely does his make a jumper or an excellent move on the post. That's something he needs to work on, or else he'll be the new Ben Wallace.

Sean sometimes lets his defender by him on purpose just so he can get the block from behind. Not a smart strategy if you ask me, but it's working more often then not at the moment.

And offensively, he has a lot of potential. On some of his shots, it seems like he just throws the ball up there once he gets it, but there are other times where he makes very nice post moves. Granted, he definitely needs to work on it, but I really don't see him being Ben Wallace bad on offense.

And other times they get ahead of him. Either way he should stop taking chances and just play D.

If he works on his offense needs then he won't be. Take away Kidd and Carter and there goes the majority of his offensive. He is a very limited on that end of the floor.

I'm not going to jump down his throat though, because it is his first year and he's doing awesome already. Sean just can't stay on the same level season after season.

Williams. Hops, height and reach are not things that can be learnt. A jumpshot is hard to learn, but not impossible...

Sean easily. Nick Young will be a great player for the Wiz in the NBA but Sean Williams does what this team has been lacking for years, plus his upside is huge.

You always go for the big in situations like this. I liked Young a lot. Both he and Williams both slipped in the draft, Williams because of his drug issues, Young because some thought he was too lackadaisical. Young was the last man in the Draft Green Room.

If there were a redo of last year's draft right now, both would be in the top 10...but I think Williams would be higher. Knowing what we know now, I think the order would be Durant, Oden, Horford, Yi, Williams, Green. And I think a number of GM's would drop Oden lower because of that microfracture surgery. Microfracture surgery is a bigger risk than a dormitory drug bust.

Sean Williams appears to be the sexy pick right now because he's made an immediate impact but Nick Young needs some time to develop. When it's all said and done Nick Young could be known as a top 5 player in this draft while Williams will probably be a top 10 player in this draft. And no I'm not a hater, Sean Williams went to my favorite college, BC. He just doesn't the offensive ability except for dunking and isn't that great of a rebounder. He's a shot blocking specialist and that's what he'll always be.

I'd take Sean over Nick Young, just like at this point in their careers, I'd probably have taken Theo Ratliff over Rip Hamilton, especially for this team.

The fact that this is even a debate is staggering for me. We finally got the power forward/center we've needed! He's a godsend! And you guys would even consider Nick Young...

Young looked very, very good, and may even end up having a better career, or even being a better player than Sean. But Sean guards the middle and blocks shots, and that's something championship-level teams need to be able to do.

Its tough because honestly I think they both have a lot of potential and both fufill a need on this team...however given that next years draft is loaded with frontcourt players and PGs I might have been inclined to grab the SG prospect.
