I consider myself a PlayStation guy. I hate microsoft so I refuse to buy an XBOX and I hate that you have to pay for XBOX Live. I never thought about buying a Wii but last night at the wife's company Christmas Party I won a 25th Anniversary Nintendo Wii with a controller and two games (New Super Mario and Wii Fit). The idea of being active when I play video games never appealed to me, but I do want to the play Mario games (New Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Galaxy 2) cause I like the nostalgia and they got pretty decent reviews.

Does anyone here own a Wii or played these games?
Do I have to use the motion controllers to play these games or can I buy the classic controllers and use those instead?

on the new super mario bros you turn the controller sideways and play it like the old school game and it is a great game. they pretty much took all three of the nes versions and morphed them into one game. the regular wii sports is pretty fun, as is the sports resort game.

i am PS3 man myself but my sister has a wii and it is a lot of fun. i have thought about buying one for myself but just can't see myself playing it enough to justify buying it.

Exactly. There are titles that I wanted to play, but could never justify buying won. I'm glad I won it.

My friend has it. We use the bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing, fitness...Lots of fun and actually lots of exercise doing it.

Far more fun than regular video games where you sit inactively and just push buttons/keys.

I got my parents a Wii a few years ago. They're both retired and enjoy playing it. It's kind of funny. They actually just got that new Mickey Mouse painting game for it for Christmas. You should give the Wii to your parents for Christmas.

See Nate, Maris agrees, Wii is great for old people.

The Goldeneye remake on the Wii is supposed to be awesome.

Wii is great for younger kids and family games. Our new favorite game to play together as a family is Wii Party. Good times!

Wii is not so great for the hardcore gamer geeks. They wont be happy with the quality of the graphics etc.

A couple of years ago my wife gave me one - the kids love it. I play with the kids a bit, and it's fun, but I am just not a video games kind of guy. It sure is better than the Playstation we had in the past (not the latest version) - so that's good, I guess. I can't really compare it to the latest Playstation/XBox.

I think of the Wii like a swimming pool. I don't want to own one personally, but it's nice when a friend has one.

It's pretty good for Netflix if you don't have the hd systems i guess, and the old Nes and Super Nintendo games on the store are good if you are feeling nostalgic.

I find myself playing video games when I want to veg out, so being active seems counter productive to what I want to do. My kids seem to like some of the games though, and I just bought the Kinect (xbox) for Christmas.
