I have never understood why Vin Scully called the 1988 season improbable throughout the season and through the World Series.
The 1988 Dodgers season was more The Impossible.
-Orel Hershiser broke Don drysdale's scoreless inning streak Out Of Reach.
-The Dodgers lost 10 games out of 11 to the Mets during the season. The Dodgers defied heavy odds and beat the Mets in the NLCS. No one saw that coming.
-The Bums broke Vegas with heavy odds versus the bash Brothers and two of the Dodgers Ex-Marquee Starting Pitchers that is, Bob Welch and Dave the cross-dressing Stewart...
Maybe it was the improbable, but it definitely was The Impossible...
No one put money down on the Dodgers of 88, which means most put money down for them to lose their asses, by accomplishing The Impossible, not just improbable, The Impossible...
What team is going to Win the best of 7, after losing 10 out of 11 throughout the season.???
Had One put money down it would have been against the Bums, and I would have lost my shirt my house and my ass too...
If I were a betting man I would say this is not the year, CK is not Koufax. Dave Roberts is not Walt Alston, anddddd orTommy Effing Lasorda. Had Robert so played for Lasorda, he would have been a bench player carrying Tommy's piss Bucket from The Dugout to the toilet.
But don't take the odds from me, I would have bet against the 88 Bums; but these are not the 88 bums. Just like all the Illusions we've heard about the 2018 Yankees being comprable to the 98, & the 78 Yankees and other great Yankee dynasties...
Btw- A-Fraud thinks he is as great as Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew and even Ted Williams when it comes to the art of hitting
