The US Tennis Association will seek bids next month for enclosing its Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens. USTA wants to eliminate washouts that have plagued the US Open, but admits it may need an NBA or NHL team to pay for the roof. In fact, the USTA once called the NBA about luring the Nets to Queens. The Nets aren’t interested, but their lease with the NJSEA does permit them to move to Queens without penalty.

Just throwing out some ideas..
Thoughts?

Nice looking stadium but can we really be called Queen Nets or Queen anything? We'd just be another New York Nets.

same place the new york mets play so i don't see a problem with it being in queens, i mean are the yankees called the bronx yankees or the ny yankees

Well that's what I meant. If we moved to Brooklyn we are the Brooklyn Nets or whatever. If we are in Queens, do we just use the New York Nets?

If we move to Queens we should still be called the New Jersey Nets i mean the Giants are called the NY Giants and they play in NJ

Brooklyn would be best, but Queens would still be better than where they're playing now.

Everyone wants a part of this New York style, huh?

Queens is okay, I guess. Why not just stay in Jersey?

That is right across from Shea/Citi Field. It's not big enough for basketball, but if the Nets moved to Qns, I'd get season tickets.

Compromise:

We move the team to Brooklyn, and call them the Brooklyn Queens.

(And you thought it couldn't get worse than the Brooklynettes...)

But then Sacramento Kings will always own us

I spent the first ten years of my life in Queens, so it'd be amazing if my favorite team moved there. I like the idea more than Brooklyn, especially considering Brooklyn isn't happening and Queens already has a venue for us to play in. I'd take Prudential Center too. Just plus let's get the hell out of the Izod Center.

And I prefer the New York Nets to the Brooklyn Nets or Queens Nets. Hell, I think it'd be a smart marketing move to change the name to New York Nets right now, even if we don't move to NY ever. Nets would sell out in Newark night in and night out, and if it says New York on the jersey, jersey sales and ad buys go up. It's a win, win situation. Jets and Giants do it, why can't the Nets?
