No Country for Old Men/3:10 to Yuma/There Will Be Blood

No Country for Old Men is probably one of the best movies I've seen in a long while. It was so cool and crazy, and the bad guy in the movie was awesome. If that movie ended better, it woulda been perfect, best movie ever. 9.6/10

3:10 to Yuma is a movie for people who like westerns. Crowe was crazy good in that movie, Bale wasn't too bad, and Foster was perfect for the cold, evil, heartless 2nd in command guy. 8.8/10

There Will Be Blood was pretty good. The acting was great, and the way dude went psycho was awesome. I also loved the ending, probably my 2nd favorite part of the movie...where he told his son he was adopted, and he went f***in nuts with that religious dude. 8.5/10

There Will Be Blood might be the greatest movie I'll ever see. Yeah thats a big statement. However it should be known that without the Greenwood soundtrack, and DDL playing the lead, the film would be mediocre.

Eh, I get where you're coming from.

There Will Be Blood seemed like it took forever, and tho it was a good movie, it was the least appealing in my mind (tho Jigga loves it). So not for everyone. Some might fall asleep at times watching this movie.

3:10 to Yuma was, like I said, definitely a movie for people who like Westerns. Not for everyone.

But what's wrong with No Country for Old Men? IMO, of any of those movies, that is the must-see. It definitely was the best all-around movie, from beginning to end...although the ending left something to be desired...but then again, I like those endings. Really, everyone should just give this movie a chance. It kept me captivated from beginning to end.

But, hey, if that's not for you...nothin wrong wit that.

Great movies might have lame trailers for various reasons, including the fact that encompassing it in an appealing way in 30-60 seconds is difficult. There is no way you know it is lame without watching at least a significant portion (maybe the first 30 minutes or so).

I have No Country for Old Men but I can't seem to get around to watch it. Don't know why.


The only reason I watched 3:10 to Yuma was because Bale's in it, and it's actually a very solid movie.

I've always been a big fan of Westerns, so it was a good year of movies. I've yet to see No Country, but 3:10 to Yuma was entertaining as hell. I'm with Jigga on There Will Be Blood as well. That was one helluva movie and it reminded me of The Last King of Scotland, in that everything seemed to be set up for the lead actor to just blow you away with their performance.

Another one that's kind of been ignored is The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Its supposedly a bit slower, but still a very good movie.

I loved how evil DDL's character was; it was pure and unadulterated. It's a movie you have to 'understand' I guess, but I stand by my statement. If you're looking for some quality advice to offset the poor TWBB recommendation there's this: don't see "I think I love my wife." It's poor, and what's worse, predictable.

No, I agree the film is fine and the acting is exceptional. It's just that I found the story boring and depressing.

I saw that movie, and it was great. The kid who played the coward Robert Ford was such a good actor. He had me pulled into his character the whole movie. And Pitt was so convincing as James, the way he was so cold-hearted around his gang, and yet so different with his family...really, some of the best acting I've seen in a long while.

I saw Jesse James. My only beef with the movie is that I wish they spent more time on the Jesse James character, as Robert Ford was (intentionally) really annoying. I didn't feel like it mattered who played Jesse James, since his role in the whole thing was more of a technicality than anything too exhaustive.

Just my opinion, but I thought No Country was way better than 3:10. That's not a knock on the movie, because I thought it was really good, but I enjoyed No Country a lot more. There were a bunch of parts in Yuma that made no sense and the way Crowe's character just totally changes face towards the end was weird.

I've heard that the original Yuma was also very good (if not better than the original).
