Blazers gotta get rid of cj. He's the most overrated player I can remember. We only have ONE star and his name is Damian. Cj is a Jamal Crawford level player

Hey guys. I get it, I havent really done a good job this year. Ahead of the new year I am making a resolution to admit to my mistakes. The injuries haven't helped, but it's not fair to the players to blame the losses on them. This season's roster is just as good as any that I have coached. I think we would have more wins if we had everyone available but even with the injries we have guys who are just as good as the guys we had last year.
Dame is Dame.
CJ is CJ.
Kent is Mo.
Melo is Chief.
Hassan is Nurk.
Ant is Turner.
Skal is Zach.
Tolliver is Jake.
I'm not really sure why it hasn't worked out very well but Neil is working on bringing in the guys who will equal last years Rodney and Kanter. Once that happens it will hlep Dame right the ship. And when Nurk and Zach are back everything will come together.

Hasn’t worked out because
Melo <<< Chief
Kent <<< Harkless
Whiteside<Nurk
Skal<Zach
Tolliver<Jake
And then there’s Curry and Meyers.

We lost six good players from last year, and replaced then with one very good player and a bunch of garbage. Add injuries so now we suck. Your solution is to get rid of one of the three good players we have left? How about get rid of our actual sucky players first? Melo, Tolliver, Mario, Bazemore. CJ’s not an all star. But he’s well above average.

Why do people keep lumping Nurk’s injury into expectations for this season. The Nurk injury was baked into the cake. Neil was talking about championship with the Nurk injury known. What you are essentially saying is the net effect of subtracting Collins and Hood, then adding Melo is enough to excuse being 6 games under .500 near mid season. Dame, CJ, Whiteside, Melo, Bazemore ALL HEALTHY! It’s not always about individual talent. The sum of all parts does not work here. Having CJ ISO ball as Dame’s #2 has consistently led to a team that doesn’t pass and has no flow.

He should be getting paid like the 6th man that he is. His contract makes it hard to acquire or retain depth. I'd rather have curry back at 7 mil than cj at 30+ mil.

Then get a starting at that is good at more than just shooting, and who isn't the biggest ball got in the NBA

I agree he’s getting paid too much and Curry at 7m is a better bargain. But assets are hard to come by, you can’t give them up out of frustration without getting something better in return. I think he’s a starting SG just not the greatest and not a great fit with Dame. His value goes up in the postseason when points are much harder to come by and what was only a decent shot becomes a good shot.

Agreed...but those assets that make up the highest payroll in the league don't seem to be doing that well. And if Nurkic is the one that makes this whole thing go, then that would seem to lessen the value of the Dynamic Duo even more. Built around Dame/Nurk + some of Ant/Collins/Little/Trent/Skal and let the rest go.

I’m saying the opposite of that. I said we lost six good players and got back one good plus garbage. I didn’t spell it out but, but I will now. Our off-season moves without any additional injuries made us 9 to 11 wins worse. It turned our 53 win team into a 43 win team. Not a championship team. LOL. Then you add additional injuries of Hood and Zach and we are a 33 to 35 win team unless Ant, Little, and Trent pan out and offset some of what we lost. Our off-season moves wrecked the team. Injuries only piled on. Our woes are primarily not due to style of play. Not bad chemistry. Not Stotts. Not CJ. They are due to imbecile roster downgrade. If therir hand was forced by money reasons then it’s from paying ET too much so still their fault.

You have to add the subtraction of Pau into there. I believe Olshey was genuinely expecting Pau Gasol to be ready to go early in the season. That was a HUGE miscalculation on his part and I definitely blame him for that.

Nurk will help a lot but he won’t fix it. We lost too much talent in the off-season. You can let the rest go cuz they suck but CJ doesn’t suck. He may hog the ball and play bad D but he’s still a good (well above average) player and an asset. You have to get at least equal value in return. If you can do that fine. But that’s hard cuz he’s overpaid. You can let Mario, Tolliver, Melo go for nothing. They all suck. Bazemore is not good either but you still try to get something for him. Do that and give our young guys major play and responsibility. Play less ISO even if it’s suboptimal so the young guys are fully involved in the offense. Pray the young guys blossom.

I agree with this. I would add that if we had a healthy Collins, Hood, and Gasol it would indeed fix it. That's not the way things broke for us though.

I think even with Zach, Nurk, Hood we are about a 45 win team. We had them last year and were a 53 win team but we lost Aminu, Harkless, Leonard, Curry, and Layman and replaced them with Hassan + hot garbage. With Nurk back, HW and him are duplication of value. Only if Trent, Little, Ant, Skal can offset the five guys we lost are we back to our 53 win team, but they are no where close to that at the moment.
