This was the headline from Al Iz today...No Home Court Advantage for the Nets.
So the question of the day:
Is it the fans responsibility to get their team going...or do the players have to give the fans something to cheer about to get them into the game?
IZOD Center has been a weird place this year, no question. It was empty last night. But there were some of us cheering and yelling out support. Not a lot of us.
Once the game got tight, the fans did respond...and got loud. But when the Nets came up empty possession after possession...after another Jazz three, two, free throw...it became VERY discouraging. Fans were anxious...agitated (no booing though). The last 3 minutes were tough to watch.
Another perspective: During "the golden era" we had fast breaks, we had alley-oops galore, we had 3 pointers from Van Horn, Kittles, Lucious Harris, even Kidd. It was FUN to be in the arena. Now, the team is getting, well, mechanical. We get excited over a Harris cross over and ankle-breaking move, but it just isn't the same caliber of energy. And when the team isn't hitting 3's...another crowd pleaser...and not blocking shots...another crowd pleaser...not dropping thunderous dunks or tossing alley oops...it just doesn't provide the energy even a smallish crowd of people need.
Us rabid fans will always cheer. But, don't we need some help from our players to give everyone something to get excited about?
