i don't understand what the hatred towards marcus is about. how could he amount to anything when the coach would bench him and not play him each time he made a mistake? his confidence must have been low as hell. i hope he turns into a star out west in a better system for him.

He'll only be hated more at that point. The guy was given a lot of chances. He was lazy on defense and out of shape due to a poor work ethic.

You look at those highlights and you see his potential and he just couldn't string it together on a consistant basis. And you wonder why there are bad feelings about the guy. He was a waste of space that could've been so much more. If the light goes on in the next year I'll only hate him more for it. The franchise needs to progress and it doesn't have time to wait on an immature player's personal time table... regardless of his potential.

This kid didn't get a lot of chances...in fact he kinda got screwed, He played behind Kidd his rookie season and put up good numbers, had an awesome summer league and got hurt then when he came back Jason Kidd was whining about being traded, and the team was in utter turmoil...he sees limited time and then Kidd is traded with the main peice being Devin Harris...a PG. That kinda sucks.

I hope Marcus turns into a superstar.

He had plenty of opportunities. Management doesn't just get rid of potential talent without feeling like they know what they are giving up.

In the past 10 years how many 1st round picks have done next to nothing on a team, traded away, and then later resurected their careers on another team(excluding players that were part of a bigger package)? Only player I can think of is Billups and he was 1997. He was also the #3 pick in the draft.

I would think there are a few others, but there isn't a lot. Someone feel free to list others. I'm curious myself.
