We had 39 personal fouls to Golden State's 21.

Of all the teams tonight to have a difference of 10 or more fouls we were the highest with 18 (two teams 13, one 11, all others under 10, actually all others under 6 I think).

Not only that, but we were the only team tonight with 30 personal fouls, never mind the fact that we were 1 from 40.


Now, I admit we didn't play that well in the 3rd quarter, but I have to call the refs out on this. There were some really bad calls against us (Carter's "elbow" guard of Jackson for example) as well as some calls not given to us (Carter's drive against Beihowever you spell their center's name)

Is this bad refing, or terribly sloppy play on our part?

To me it seems more than that. If you watch it, his elbow was out for a second, and he didn't even use it to push off on Jackson, it seemed like he was preparing it for a move that didn't come.

Meanwhile, Jackson absolutely abused Douglass-Roberts on one play. The one where he got buy him for a dunk, he easily pushed off of Roberts, no call.

I'm sorry, all these plays I can take and eat as one, but when you put them all together it wasn't a evenly called game.

The only thing that I found more odd was the fact that Stephen Jackson exacts revenge on us for Byron and the gang giving up on him, EVERY time we play him; Yet when he started heating up, we left him alone to hit 3's. Frank's memory should be longer.

As per the fouls, it's hard to get into this argument. Because there are two types of people who never agree. There is one type of person who thinks the Government spends most of the time working to get the most out of people like they're Gerbils and there is another type of person that thinks the the government is really working FOR us. There is one type of person who thinks 9-11 was an inside job and another who thinks George Bush is a patriot. Similarly, there is one type of person who thinks that the NBA officiating is generally accurate and then there is another that feels the NBA pushes for, if not dictates the outcomes of certain games.
I'm not so sure we would have won the game had things been square, But, that was a classic double standard game. One team is allowed to be physical and defend, the other is not. One team gets ticky tack and imaginary calls and the other can rarely buy one.
But these things are rarely and understandably agreed upon.
So I'll end this on something almost all of us can agree with: Brooke Lopez was the correct pick at #10.

We played a lot of rookies. They tend to foul more than others. Big men tend to foul more than others. Rookie Big men then tend to foul a lot more, to which we had two: Brook and Ryan.

Those were fouls. But the refs did call a lot of close ones that they might not in some other games. That favored the more experienced more aggressive one-on-one players. Not us.

Yup. They took over, and ruined any enjoyment of the game. It shouldn't be a surprise that the ref's egos took over - after all, Dick Bavetta was leading the crew. Also, look at the game duration: 2:36, the longest game of last night by 11 minutes - a huge outlier!

Nets are averaging more than 40 personals in the two games. Last night may have been awful, but the Wizards game produced a lot of fouls as well. Young big men are very foul prone. Goes with the territory.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the young big men. Carter, Harris, and Simmons had more fouls combined than Lopez, Yi, and Anderson.

Also to add, they only had 23 fouls in the wizards game, not sure where you got 40 from.

Yepp was going to say, our perimeter guys fouled a ton. If that and defending the 3 pointers werent bad enough , there penetration def. was horrible. Our bigs were getting hung out to dry with the opposing guards taking it to the rim.
