This is the team we've got. The die is cast. Now hopefully our guys get healthy.

I will say this though, Neil has got some work to do this summer.

Last year he admitted he underestimated how well the team would do and regrets no getting them some help for the stretch run.

This year, he constructed his roster in a way that had little flexibility with no draft picks to trade so that he couldn't make any moves.

Either way doesn't seem like very good accomplishment.

What do you (and others) think can be done this summer, with the limited options at our disposal? The best I can see is some minor bench help. Something that might be a significant improvement like we thought Mo/Wright would be, or something as disastrous as Mo/Wright turned out to be.

"Its a process".

I think a blockbuster trade for a star will happen sometime this summer. The Goal is as always, get out of the first round of the playoffs.

It's infuriating that Batum is making $11M this season

Midway. About Richard Sherman.

Bringing in people for the bench will help to a degree.

Our team needs to improve D from the perimeter all the way to the key. This should be priority #1.

I think our lineup needs some work. I've felt for a while that Dorell Wright is a starter guy. He's one of those guys that plays better when starting because they need to get that rhythm and coming off the bench makes that really difficult.

How would you guys feel about moving Wes to the bench when LA comes back?

Dame
Nic
Wright
LA
Lopez

and then have Wes be the primary scorer off the bench. I've always been really curious how Wes would do in a spark plug role off the bench. He would seem to be perfect for it.

Last night in the first few minutes, Wright's stats were the best on the team. He made his 3s.

Maybe it was because he started, or maybe because the whole team was psyched up without Aldridge and Freeland.

Did you watch the defensive end? Blazers are porous enough, but Wright made it even worse.

sorry, but IMO Wright flat out sucks

I think Wright needs to be in a position where he can be a starter and really get some time to play. You saw in the last game he did contribute. Some players don't do well in back up roles.

Well....everyone but Batum. :D

I figured that was assumed, as even Olshey has said so. Compete for the playoffs this year, and hopefully the following year add all the pieces to make a run.

Already winning more games this year than last year isn't a very good accomplishment. Mmmkay. Good luck with that one.

If you put it in context with the rest of the post instead of removing it, he admitted his regret last year (his words not mine) and had no flexibility to do anything this year. The post had nothing to do with the record but making moves around the deadline.

Just to clarify. :D

I'd feel really terrible about it. Wright hasn't done a damn thing to earn a starting spot. If a player is going from the bench to the starting line-up it's NOT because they MIGHT be better as a starter than as a bench player. You move them because they prove to be too good to keep on the bench...or because whoever is currently starting has proven to be inadequate. Neither of those things have happened.
And beside that, if BGD thinks it's a good idea you know that 99 times out of 100 it's NOT a good idea.

If anything, you move McCollum into the starting line-up, since he can play Wes' spot-up game. The problem is that other teams are bring CJ down into the post defensively, because he's so frail for a SG right now.

So a coaching change? I definitely agree that a change in coaching is probably the easiest way to see the most significant improvement. Are you thinking head coach, or bringing in a defensive assistant? I don't really know much about assistant-level coaches, but would be open to it. As for head coaches I read something about Thibs not being a sure-thing for CHI next year - he'd probably by my #1 pick. But I'd also look at Sloan, either Van Gundy, Hollins, and even Jackson and possibly Larry Brown. Beyond that I'd see if there's another Jeff Hornacek out there.

I don't remember him saying that. I do remember him saying that the shitty bench was a part of the plan last year, though.

Is Diaw a 4? I thought he was a SF.

Diaw was LeBron James when Wright was defending him. The worst, though, was when a ball got kicked out to Belinelli, and Wright backed off of him and allowed him to shoot. Even Wright hung his head after that boneheaded decision.
