I'm about to cancel my center ice package from directv so I don't have to deal with this shit.

From your lips to gods ear step. I hope it is the same shit every year. SCF here we come...

I am telling you chuck, same shit but different year. roster turnover, long trip bs excuse or something else. I am really considering not to watch this until January.

I think you should do it. Let's be honest...with an 82 game season it doesn't really pick up until Dec/Jan anyway.

I was thinking the same thing as soon as step got hurt, and again 4 minutes into the third period.

After November 6th, approx 25-30 games in, Ranger fans will
get a grasp how this team will play. No doubt anything can happen.....
good or bad: a trade or two, player's progress or lack of, more injuries, etc.

.......and suspensions! lol

3 games short of winning Stanley Cup, 8 games into the season and posters on this board are running up the white flag. Very, very odd posters here. The good news is I'm sure the majority of Ranger fans are much more level headed than the posters here.

some of the posters. there are a few good ones. need a lot more though

Great comeback win, even another goal by my favorite whipping boy Klein, the Rangers lone defenseman with 2 goals now. Getting Klein for the empty-headed Del Zotto was a good trade by Glen. I'm starting to think I'd rather keep Klein and try to move Staal now, can't see paying him anything near what he'll want next year.

Dumb penalty by CK was more a product of his strength while the penalty by J. Moore might earn him a game or 2 suspension. This year's Ranger team is considerably better than last year's was at this time even without Stepan and Boyle. No surprise the PP needs work but should improve when Step & Boyle return.

agree, I am not impressed with Staal its time to cut bait with him. he is not a defensive force to pay him over 5 million a year will be crippling the cap.

To me with Staal it is about his play on some level for sure, clearly he is not close to the dman he used to be, but I think it is even deeper than that. The guy wants 5/6 years 5.5/6 mill per, and I just don't see how we can possibly re-sign him to that type of deal given our team makeup and the cap situation. Frankly I think it would be flat out crazy to do so.

Boyle signed for next season. Girardi signed for many more seasons. Klein signed for a few more seasons. McD signed for many more seasons. We have some kids close. Moore will be here. I just don't see the need for Staal with that type of contract.

We should play out this season, if we are in it at the trade DL and can get back a good top 4 dman trade Staal. If we cannot get a good return (and this is the most likely option) we let the season play out and Staal can walk this summer, I am okay with that in his case. If we are out of it (unlikely) we deal Staal for something future at the trade DL.

This has been my opinion since early summer and has nothing to really do with his play through 9 games, but that has locked in my opinion even more.

Let Staal walk. Granted he had a terrible injury to come back from but he has just done nothing to justify being given a long term deal for huge dollars.

You start scouting and callkng Carolina, teams like the hurricanes in their market need playoffs to help with their bottom line...see what interest they have now and go forward

This...but instead of just letting him walk, i call the Whalercanes like Al suggests and trade him there, or any other place, so you can get something for him.

I hear you guys on Staal. Only thing I'm wondering a little bit is if he's sucking right now trying to do too much with the pressure of his contract situation similar to hank and our former captain last year. To me he is still a solid 2nd pair defenseman who plays a lot of minutes. I agree 6 mill is more than we'd like to see but that seems to be the prevailing rate now so we'll have to see how things shake out. As for trading him we do not have great depth on D right now as skjei is at least a year or 2 away so who exactly is going to take staal's minutes and might I remind everyone this is a team that is gonna contend for the cup this season and not necessarily looking to dump salary at this goals expense. Staal has always been one of my favorite players (first round pick home grown and all that jazz) and at 28 he's still young enough to get past these injuries and back to playing at a level where he's a big asset to the team.
