A SeaWorld employee died this afternoon during an incident at SeaWorld's Shamu Stadium, following an incident this afternoon at the Killer Whale attack, an Orange County Sheriff's Office official confirmed.

Neither SeaWorld, rescue personnel or the Sheriff's Office are confirming the identity of the employee, although a local TV station is reporting that a female employee was killed after she was grabbed by one of the theme park's whales at the start of a public show.

Park guest Victoria Biniak told Local 6 that the trainer was a veteran of SeaWorld and had just finished explaining to the audience the show they were about to see.

At that point, Biniak said, the whale came up from the water and grabbed the woman.

"He was thrashing her around pretty good. It was violent,'" Biniak told Local 6.

Its about time. If I was an open ocean animal, I'd hate to be caged in. I'd do the same thing. But then again, this is me thinking as a human, not as an animal.

Sucks for the employee, very sad. I wonder if the family can sue? You would think not, you would think that she knew the risks of working with such a large, powerful animal (my cock)?

Keep the whale. Triple the price of tickets. Have Taliban prisoners from Gitmo do the feeding.

yeah its 2 bad, but thats the risk you take when you lock up wild animals....i wonder what happens to the whale? put down??

Goodness RIP.

I refuse to do the Shamu song and wave they have you do there now :sigh:

so like the Morbid person I am.. I checked the newest Shamu videos on youtube.. and found one of one attacking and killing apelican during the show on like Feb 17th... wonder if it was the same whale?

from like 1:50 you see a Pelican steal a fish from the crate.. get nipped, fly away and get eaten.

think about the audience that witnessed that...and the kids....THE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, it's an education.

yeah definitely... I remember going to see Keiko and he decided to get an erection or something when we were by the window. Thats how I learned about animal dongs and boners.

Hey amazingly enough your not supposed to play with wild animals.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

My very first date (age 14) I took this chick to the Portland Zoo. While we were watching the monkeys, one flew across and screwed one with little drips of seamen falling. Not knowing what to say, when we stepped to the next cage, I said, "And here we have...". That was out last date.

It doesn't appear that it killed a pelican but IT WAS INVOLVED IN THE DEATHS OF TWO OTHER PEOPLE!

Opps!

SeaWorld spokesman Fred Jacobs confirmed the whale was Tilikum, one of three orcas blamed for killing a trainer who lost her balance and fell in the pool with them in 1991 at Sealand of the Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia.

Tilikum was also involved in a 1999 death, when the body of a man who had sneaked by Orlando SeaWorld security was found draped over him. The man either jumped, fell or was pulled into the frigid water and died of hypothermia, though he was also bruised and scratched by Tilikum.

The whale was known to be ill tempered and too big to go in with. No trainer ever went in with the whale. The first death was someone slipping into the tank. The second death was some moron jumping in the tank, he was killed, and he deserved it. This last kill, no one really knows what happened, if she was pulled in or if she fell, either way, it proves she shouldn't have been standing at a area where the whale could reach her. I don't think the whale should be blamed for any of these deaths, as attitudes should have been more strict when dealing near the whale.

On another note, out of all of the people I know in the zoology field and zookeeping field, I can guarantee you all of them would lobby against that whale being put down.

Wow, the entire audience watched it happen. Horrible.

Are they talking about killing the whale?

Doubt they'll put it down but I would think they'll finally retire the whale and put it somewhere else.

I always thought the tanks for the whales was really small relative to how big those damn things are. Seems like most other animals at zoos and whatnot get much bigger and appropriately sized enclosures.

Heres more pelican bits for you. This one too got attacked.

How many workers are being paid for that show that day? Jeesh!

whoah that one is way better quality than the one I found!

If they put the whale down, can they use him as dolphin flavoring in tunafish?
