Ziegler wrote that he was brought in by former assistant general manager Tom Penn to do "biomechanical" assessments of Trail Blazer players and found warning signs of future injuries to Oden, Roy and Joel Przybilla -- but the team may have ignored his warnings and, in fact, laughed at them. Penn, reached Tuesday night, said, "My reaction to that is call the Blazers."
A spokesman for the Trail Blazers said team president Larry Miller was "not going to comment" on the report.
Ziegler, reached Tuesday night by phone, said, "My track record and the athletes I work with speak for themselves. I indicated to (the Blazers) that this was a fitness exam, not a medical exam. I told them 'You trainer and strength and conditioning coach were going to have to fix (the players).
"I'm not saying the Blazers did nothing. But I would bet anything that if we did follow-up testing either the athlete, the coach or trainer would be exposed. The data doesn't lie.
"At some point, microfracture surgery doesn't work. You need to treat the reasons for needing the surgery."
Ziegler's website says he's worked with major-league baseball players Johan Santana, Jason Bay and Ryan Howard, along with basketball player Shaqulle O'Neal and NFL players Anquan Boldin, Seth Joyner and former Oregon players Derek Loville and Chris Oldham.
